It's not rocket science - mismatches are not a blueprint for success. Whoever thought that this model was sustainable is an idiot.

Yea, Spike seemed solid and they have a decent history with combat sports.
Oh well, I won't claim to know all the reasons why they decided (or were forced to) go elsewhere.

No wonder, when you have people celebrating less boxing on TV because they don't like the person putting on the show. You will never hear MMA fans complaining about the UFC because they only root for Bellatore.
Dude you have it all wrong. What, as boxing fans we should just shut the *** up and just be happy that there is boxing on free tv and don't care about the product that is shown to us? *** that.

I'm a true fan and as a true fan I want boxing available for free for years and years to come. I'm not looking for some fly by night broadcast that will be shown for a couple years only. As real fans we should be the most vocal and don't expect an inferior product. Most of you Haymon fanboys act like a typical casual fan.

Al Haymon had a good concept going in. But when he went on this shopping spree buy channel after channel and for the most part putting on mismatches for his best fighters and paying them ridiculous amounts of money. It was obvious he was doing this only to fleece that investor money into his pockets.

If he truly was looking at this as a long term thing. Then he wouldn't have went crazy with that money the first year.

*** he had enough money going in to broadcast a very big fight once a month and small lower level fights inbetween and focus on a consistent schedule instead of this cluster *** of fights on who knows what channels.

Terrible journalism from Keith Idec. His article needs to be corrected immediately.

"Premier Boxing Champions’ partnership with Spike has ended."

FALSE. The partnership has not ended. The contract has expired. They are discussing future fights and it hasn't been decided yet if the partnership will be ending or not.

"According to a report by ESPN.com on Wednesday, decision-makers for the basic-cable channel have decided against continuing to televise fights featuring PBC boxers on a regular basis."

FALSE. That is not what ESPN.com's report said. The report specifically stated there was no network option for Spike to pick up and the two sides are still talking.

Spike, as @danrafaelespn reports, the first PBC network to bail. Others, industry execs say, will follow. Haymon creation crumbling.

It seems like people revel in failure too often. The company that owns the network also owns another combat sport. It's not unfathomable that they defer to the brand they own. Hardly a failure. Work needs to be done for sure, but as boxing fans should we be happy when boxing isn't successful? Acknowledging facts are ok, but if you're not suggesting solutions you should celebrate pitfalls.
