So in otherwords Haymon was just doing what every other promoter and network(hbo) does?

But wasn't Haymon suppose to change the sport and bring it back to the main******? That's what the Haymon fanboys said. What a smart way to bring it back to the main****** by keeping with the normal ways boxing is run.

Long story made short: cut cost and grow our own brands. Bellarator is owned by Viacom. Why pay PBC when I have a competing product?
PBC doesn't compete with bellator. Different sports but I brought this up a year ago bellator does better ratings for a fraction of the cost. Spike gets better ratings with reruns of cops then it does with PBC. Why pay for PBC when you have 2 cheaper options that pull better ratings? PBC needed to start small keep costs down use 1 network to start, put on as many competitive fights as you can build the audience and brand then branch out in other networks. They had the money but haymon buying private jets, a ****** scoreboard, paying guys who can't draw flies like Lara 1m to fight bums, time buys on too many channels meant you needed to spend too much money to finance all the fights you needed to deliver to keep networks happy. It was either a ponzi like scheme to steal money or an XFL like business disaster.

This is not a record store. Nice try on that analogy though.

This is boxing which is dead to the main****** public. If you are trying to get them back you hit them with the best products you have in the beginning and only show them the best that boxing has to offer. You just don't flood the market with tons and tons of trash hoping people find a gem every now and then. You broadcast you best fights in the beginning and build up the brand. Then once you got a good foot in place you can start to expand and give then more of the lower level stuff.

If you want a good following audience. Then in the beginning you give then quality fights over quantity of fights.

Nobody said Haymon was going to change the sport, but he has contributed to it. It's only casual fans who approach it scratching their heads and say "well what did he do?" To downplay anything Haymon has accomplished is realistically ******.

Who is going to tell other non boxing fans "hey man if you want to watch boxing you gotta order HBO or Showtime!" That sounds a bit *****ish imo. God forbid the traditional boxing broadcasts should have other platforms..

It's also amazing how simple boxing fans are. People have been brainwashed into these promoter wars. This decision has little to do with the quality of matches. This is a fiscal/strategy decision. There's no reason to pay for content like PBC if I own a market substitute. Viacom has new leadership that's vetting these type of leakage issues.

It's a market substitute: combat sports. It's competing content
