        Actually, it's worse than that.

704,000 average for the whole telecast...

Good numbers for a guy who only had 8 pro fights coming in. Anyone want to guess what the viewership was for any other active or recently retired fighter for their 9th fight? I'll wait...

Once LOMO fights M. GARCIA his no. will go through the roof. He cannot fight another cupcake and expect to get huge numbers.

I wonder what Lampley and gang will do when HBO pulls the plug? With numbers like these, it's more likely everyday. Canelo needs to put up a big number with Chavez to show the sport is worth the investment. I'm thinking at least 1M buys. The future of HBO boxing is riding on Canelo v. GGG. That might be the end of their investment in the sport.

Streaming reduces the viewership ratings. They need to bring boxing back to free TV, there is no other option.

This post is somewhat ridiculous because most fighters fighting their 9th fight are very young so of course they are not well known.

Loma is 29. had a long amateur career. He participated in the world series of boxing which were technically pro fights. He "debuted" on the Bradley/JMM undercard.

Can we at least make reasonable comparisons.

You are missing the bigger picture here. Loma is not some American sensation who was highly visible in the mainstream media prior to his pro debut. We're talking about a guy who doesn't speak English, is a relative unknown in the U.S. among casuals, and he still got close to a million viewers while fighting an unknown opponent on a paid cable network. These numbers surpass Broner/Granados, Frampton/Santa Cruz, Crawford/Molina, and many other fights where two known fighters are competing.
