Even the americans on here dont seem to get behind him, they seem more intent on hyping up some kid who beat an old man and a kickboxer rather than shawn porter and danny garcia. What makes you think he doesn't get recognition?

    Thurman is a popular fighter.

The only mythical matchups i've seen him lose are ones against better fighters who have proven themselves for the most part.

I like Thurman, but he's not even the best in his own division right now, top 5 p4p is a huge stretch imo. Way too many people deserve it before him.

Also, you seem to have selective memory, he was the favorite against Garcia and Garcia is a hype job who should have never gotten past Lucas Matthysse, how much credit do you want him to get really beyond the fact that it's another win under his belt?

I think he gets credit. He should, beating Porter and Garcia back to back is very good.

I think probably because the Garcia fight wasn't that exciting and ever since he has been stepping up in competition, he has been a bit less exciting and a bit more cautious at times. That's very understandable of course but i think people expected a bit more from him and he hasn't really delivered a lot of excitement at times in the past couple of years, even if he has been winning.

I think it kind of goes for every WW right now, most are viewed in a similar fashion. People are waiting for someone to stamp their authority on the division in style and nobody really has.

Good thread. Thurman has plenty of respect from serious boxing heads but doesn't seem to be especially hyped by the forum or by p4p lists.

As far as casual attention goes, he doesn't fight often and his last fight wasn't exactly a thriller (and their memory is short, given that Porter-Thurman was an excellent fight).

It's about time Thurman got some love from the fans. He deserves to be top 8-10 P4P, his resume at 28 is very good and it can only get better

Not sure who has better back to back wins right now.

Hyped up by the Americans as a killer, turns out to be boring.
