Have you ever liked a fighter but disliked their fan base?

Honestly, I have. Plenty of times at that. I used to love Pac in his prime but his fans really turned me off. Same for Mayweather.

Currently I feel that way about GGG and Gonzalez. I like both fighters, I have bought both of their PPV's and watch their cards on HBO but I can't stand some of their fans. Not all of their audience is gone off the deep end, but the few that are make it difficult for me to speak positively about them on the forum. Even if I do hold them in high regard irl.

I used to be one of the biggest Rigondeaux fans around here. Hell, I bought his book a few years back and read it in one sitting because I was rather intrigued by El Chacal. Sadly, after several poor showings against clearly overmatched men and with his fanatics constantly praising him for "breaking faces", the guy's horrid attitude towards entertainment got tired and old quickly. His fans would take his crap, polish it, heat it up and tried to force feed everyone that crap and pass it off as some amazing, once in a lifetime performance .

Oh well. I would still like to see Rigondeaux vs top names in or around his division. Same goes for Roman and GGG.

What about the rest of you? Have any fan bases turned you away from a fighter? Present or past?

I regard fan bases like I take penises in my ********. Never. I like fighters based on their personality and skills. Their fans could be a bunch of talking salmon and I would still support the fighter.

I don't like neither ward or canelo and same with their naive fan bases, knowledgeable fans like good well rounded fighters like loma, mikey, Crawford, Spence. Worst fans are the ones who just go by race you can tell they don't know **** about the sport.

Also the thing with Floyd and PAC they both got real fanbases of great fans but they are the mainstream like ggg is now and there will be those dumb casuals always.

It's just a cop out racist afrocentrics use. If you like a fighter you like a fighter. The "fans doe" excuse is lame.

Honestly the biggest problem I have is how posters here can't like 2 opposing fighters. The ones that like Golovkin say Ward is **** and vice versa. I don't see the problem with liking 2 fighters at the same time.

I don't have any dislike for any fighter. However, some fans can be so obsessed with the fighters they follow. They get so emotional when there's any criticism of their favorite fighter. That's on all sides.
