I agree that the quality of opponents makes this fight special. However, think about all the great match ups we got back a few years ago that all you need was HBO or SHO subscription. I'm talking around 2007-2010. Those great match ups made it easier for the superstars like Mayweather and Pacquiao to thrive on PPV. Now we're getting fights like Canelo/Angulo on PPV. Canelo/Chavez is easily a Boxing After Dark special a few years ago. Someone like Ward could become a bonafide superstar, especially if he's able to take care of Kovalev in a clear decisive victory. I guarantee the lack of a good PPV showing will sully the impact of the victory.

Back in the day bro I easily averaged 4-5 PPV fights ordered year. And it wasn't just superstar fighters like DLH and Tyson. You had fights Jones-Toney, which pretty much equivalent of Ward-Kovalev. The Barrera-Morales fights. And the list goes on and on. And those type fights would do 300K buys easily.

Amen to your words. That said, my pick is Ward on points again. As I wrote elsewhere, IMO he is to Kovalev what Holyfield was to Tyson.

But - being myself a certified Kovalev aficionado - a knockout win for Krusher would be huge.

Was he a "coward" when he fought him, won and took his titles in the first fight? Two fights against a top 5 P4P Light Heavyweight, that's pretty impressive for a "coward".

This is the level of "hardcore fight fan" I was speaking of in my post. Would much rather entertain the whole WWE soap opera bull**** than be all in on a fight of this magnitude. These clowns are what's killing boxing. If any of you ate like me, you're probably the only, or one of few non-casual fight fans among your peers. I don't think anybody is upset that the fight got made. Any boxing fan is most probably in eager anticipation. However, it doesn't change the fact that Ward's behavior in the weeks and months after the fight, suggested that he didn't want to fight Kovalev again. He spoke of retirement and not having to prove anything. It is not out of the realm of possibility that he was backed into a corner and decided to fight. That said, now that it is signed, it is one of the biggest fights in boxing. You should learn to differentiate the drama that people tend to dislike from the actual fight itself and not get so emotionally affected.
