Golden Boy boxing on ESPN2 draws 219k viewers

NBA games are on ESPN not ESPN2. This was a replay of the fight that streamed live on ESPN3, not live and it wasn't on ESPN it was on the ESPN2 for the replay. And more important this is a series for young fighters and prospects. Comparing to NBA games with the top stars in that league and a sport that is more covered then boxing is not apples to apples it's like apples to steak.
In comparison Friday night fights on ESPN2 avg around 300k viewers 3 ago. And PBC on FS1 today avgs less then 200k. That's the ball park this series should be in. Nobody is doing NBA numbers.Comment

Fortunately, I dont have a smartphone. Ya, I have a dumb, little cellphone for emergencies but all it does is call and text. So unless Im in front of my computer, I'm "blacked out" too LOL (off the gridI hear you. When I have something going on and can't catch a fight live so DVR it I have to go full blackout mode. Fall off the grid. But its very hard in 2017 with social media, websites, phone updates, ect. LMAO
Just a few years ago I would intentionally DVR football games just to fast forward commercials and say time. Can't even do that anymore because so hard to not accidently get something spoiled by Facebook or something online.
). And Im even more old school than u. Still got my VCR! Thats how I record something on TV if Im not home. Forgot all about Edner Cherry & O. Douglas though. My bad!

Just goes to show you how far Golden Boy boxing has fallen. I'm a diehard boxing fan and I had no idea I was watching a tape delayed broadcast. So it likely had no effect on the final ratings. Nice try.PBC on FS1 card last week drew 218k for a actual live card. This drew 219k for a replay on ESPN2. Golden Boy cards have a significantly smaller budget as well.

I think thats where there is a common misconception. Boxing has always been on free T.V., I have always watched GBP and TR fights on Telemundo and a couple other Spanish stations that are available "free". The difference is I guess marketing to a pickier/choosier crowd.Comment
