It won't hurt MMA much. It'll hurt McGregor's bottom line, which is money, but other MMA promotions will move on. The UFC itself, will be fine. They'll get the next guy lined up or even old vets like GSP now that he's back in the business to put the machine behind.

He's in the UFC so yea he can fight, but I also think he's more overrated by hardcore MMA fans than Conor is by casual MMA fans. Cuz I mean if he fought an 0-0 in MMA Floyd in a cage Floyd would probably be the 9th best guy he's fought & Khabib is 24-0 or something like that. Obviously I'm being facetious, but not by as much as some Khabib worshippers would say.

And mainly this is some standard don't mind the headlines what I'm really saying is I'm a little jealous my name isn't being bought up to fight Floyd (or Conor when its a boxer sh^tting on this idea) for a kajillion dollars thing to me.

Cyborg is the face of womens MMA. And hardly anyone gave a f#ck she lost a kickboxing match. It doesn't even make sense anyone would care if you put any thought into it.

And sh^t man this is nothing new. Anderson Silva, arguable the best MMA fighter ever, has lost a boxing match. No one cares. The all time great sumo wrestler Akebono is 0-4 in MMA & 1-9 in kickboxing (don't ask me why a 500lb man is kickboxing) & no one gives a f#ck. Michael Jordan failed at baseball. No one cares. This is a no risk situation for Conor & in particular MMA since MMA ain't even going to have sh^t to do with this fight unless Conor does something to DQ himself.
There's a lot more similarities between boxing and MMA than there are between basketball and baseball. They're both fighting, one just adds more styles to the mix.

Conor's main strength is boxing - So if he goes in there and gets humiliated by Floyd at the very style that he always excels at in the octagon, then I don't see where there isn't potential risk in him looking bad. Will it effect his drawing power? Maybe, maybe not. What effect it might have would likely be marginal. But it's still pretty rash to pretend like there's no chance of him looking bad at all coming out of this.

Where have I pretended like there is no way Conor comes out looking bad beyond the official L? I haven't really talked about the realities that will come with a Conor loss cuz I've just been going at it with the crazy talking mfers about Conor losing that say his career is over, he'll never sell another PPV, MMA will be destroyed & other nutty sh^t not based on any logic seemingly.

But yea if he gets KO'd in 13 seconds then its gonna impact him in many ways. If he loses every second of every round & this fight gets more boos than we've ever seen in a PPV fight then yea his Q rating is going down. And obviously those are extreme stances on how things could go down so I'd say the further the fight looks to either of those two things the less the pain of the loss will be for him.

Personally when thinking about how this fight actually goes down I see Conor presenting some awkwardness for Floyd early, as unconventional fighters often do, that will have fans excited, but won't prove to be very effective. From there Floyd will overwhelm him more & more via continued domination & around the 5th to 8th round the ref will stop it after a flurry stuns a starting or already gassed Conor. At worst Floyd dominates & isn't able to stop the awkward Conor & we have a 12-0 x3. I don't think that is gonna harm Conor at all & I suspect in his post fight remarks he'll give mad respect to Floyd, but make mention of if he'd have had more years in the game he'd have beaten Floyd & Conor's casual fans will eat that up & he'll sell 1.5M+ PPV's in his next MMA match.

I feel like we're overestimating how seriously anyone will take this fight.

Even the most casual of casuals will be perfectly aware that Conor is just getting a big paycheck, isn't even a boxer, and just see it as a reason to invite friends over and eat junk food.

People "picking" Conor to win under boxing rules are doing so tongue-in-cheek just because they want to watch the novelty unfold.

What the hell is he talking about? Floyd is the big favorite to win and will win, everybody knows that. Conor is an MMA fighter NOT a world class boxer so a loss will definitely not damage MMA.

Now if Floyd would beat Conor in an MMA fight then it would be a HUGE blow to the reputation of MMA.
