Isn't 16 lbs quite a lot to lose in 5 wks? Maybe not, but he could lose quite a bit of muscle mass. Interesting fight only if it gets into a brawl.

It seems like he still has a lot of weight to lose. But at least he is taking it seriously and putting in the work with Nacho and his strength coach.

Funny how you have a quote about Loma being on roids but use "strength coach" rather the name Memo - which everyone associates with Steroids...

Just to expand a bit on the Jacobs comparison:

            Jacobs
            - weighed 174.8lbs at the 30 day weigh in
            - ie 14.8lbs over, or 9.25% over the 160 limit

            Chavez
            - weighs 178
            - ie 13.5 lbs over the contractual limit of 164.5, or 8.2% over

Couple of other 30-day weight comparisons:

Lemieux (vs Golovkin): 9.6% over the fight limit
            Wade (vs Golovkin): 9.8%
            Brook (vs Golovkin): 10%
            Canelo (vs Khan): 5.7%
            Mayweather (Pac): 2.4%

These aren't cherry picked, just the easiest ones to find.

Its still quite a bit of weight to lose, but Chavez looks to be on point with the weight so far, and depends if he manages it right between now and fight night. Promising.

              Good POST! Karma.

Your right he's on point and that is pretty standard 30 days from fight. Actually for him he has 36 days left to drop 13.5 He should be able to do that quite easy if he sticks to their plan.

Man The Ring MAgazine had this fight listed back in 2012... Can't BELIEVE how young they both look.

Shedding 13lbs off of that frame is going to hurt.
