Of course they should have 3 minute rounds. Society and sports are way too soft on women. If they want to fight, they should toughen the **** up and don't be such pvssies, haha. Two minute rounds is just one of the things I dislike about women's boxing.
one thing that i ignore about women boxing is if they use same size gloves as men or do they use bigger gloves? i always thought they use bigger gloves, or do they look big in comparison with women, who are naturally smaller than men?
VO2 max is a measurement of the maximum amount of oxygen your heart and lungs can deliver to your working muscles. It is the best way to judge a person's cardiovascular fitness. For men and women, VO2 max differs. Absolute VO2 max is, on average, 40 percent greater in a man than a woman, according to the book "Exercise Physiology" by Brooks, Fahey and Baldwin. Even when measuring relative difference, when taking into account body weight, men have a 20-percent greater VO2 max.
Heart
The size of the heart is one compelling difference between genders. Men have a larger heart than women do, according to "Exercise Physiology." In general, the size of the male left ventricle is larger than a woman's. This means that a man's heart is capable of holding and pumping more blood per beat than a woman's. The ability to pump a larger amount of blood makes it possible to deliver more oxygen and thus produce a larger amount of energy. This difference may account for the disparity in VO2 max between a male and female.
Respiration
Gender affects respiratory capabilities. In general, women have a smaller lung capacity not just because of the size of their lungs and torso, but also because of certain hormones. Estrogen and progesterone, found in larger amounts in women, can reduce ventilation and function, specifically during exercise, according to a review published in "Respiratory Physiology and Neurobiology" in October 2005.
Respect to Taylor for wanting to play on an even field with the men, but honestly I'd rather see 1 minute rounds to get those bs distance fights over with quicker.

Ill listen to Katie when she fights someone with a pulse. I see woman in gyms all the time that seem to know how to hit things hard, yet her opponent last time didn't seem to be able to do much of anything. Its hard to believe thats the best they could do for her. At least get an opponent that might try to hit her hard!

Her argument though is that the extra minute, at least in her case, would net her more stoppages
And from what I've seen of her, she's probably right. Chick is relentless. It's a lot easier surviving a 2 minute round, obviously. However give her that extra 60 seconds to work with and there's a good chance she's probably getting these other girls outta there.

That's a great point. One thing I dislike about women's boxing is seeing one woman take a beating for an extended period of time. If a girl is hurt and the bell is not about to ding, it's much easier for a ref to stop the fight. With 2 min rounds, there's always that "she can probably make it to the bell" factor. At least, from so many of the 1-sided women's boxing matches I've seen.
