Jean Pascal is basically done as a world title challenger (Stevenson, Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev all beat him at this point), is looking to squeeze out a few more paydays off of his profile in Montreal, and he thinks that Nick Diaz would be an easy mark with a name (apparently not understanding that Nick Diaz is likely walking around near 200lbs, and has had a quality boxing coach [and been put in with top-flight boxing sparring, the most known of which being Andre Ward] since he committed to pro fighting).

He's talking now, but if the fight even becomes halfway serious, Pascal's camp will finally do their due dilligence, see that Nick Diaz isn't just some Conor McGregor type with no experience in boxing, and will try and save Pascal the work.


Say what you want, Nick Diaz is a 6'1, 76" reach, southpaw, with pop in the mini gloves, and pretty sturdy experience mixing in with top-level pro boxers. Nick Diaz likely isn't a world-level boxer, but you can't tell me that Diaz hasn't shown the ability to hang as a national-level boxer at this point.

Idk, but some of those guys are irritating...there's a reason why the nsac didn't grant mcgregor a boxing license....maybe now they did, but some of these guys would get obliterated. Nick d1ckazz vs a puncher like pascal? Come on

Pascal is the smaller man, Pascal is the shorter man, and it's not like Pascal is out there, running through his boxing skills either. Diaz likely still gets beat (at even 34, Pascal is still in the top 15 of 175lb boxers in the world), but don't act as if he's got absolutely no shot.

The Diaz Brothers (with Nate Diaz knocking off the UFC's current golden boy) is a hot name at the moment, and Pascal seems to see a way for himself to make a big payday (on a fight that he seems to expect will be spectacle).

Pascal's mistake seems to be that he and his camp don't know that Diaz has been getting in top-level boxing work for years now (with Frankie Edgar and the Skrap Pack basically having the best/most complete boxing of any fighters in MMA)

Got a combat sports boner at this concept & I've discussed it before myself.

Boxing/MMA hybrid rules:

-In the Octagon
-MMA Gloves or MMA-like Gloves with more protected fingers to avoid eye poking issues
-3 to 5, 5 minute rounds
-Boxing only, no wrestling, grappling, kicking, etc.

I'm sure Pascal has heard of the Diaz brother boxing history. I mean the fact that he knows who the f#ck Diaz is in the first place to me say he probably knows more about him beyond just his name. I'd bet he even knows, unlike many MMA guys who talk about boxing Diaz actually had a pro boxing match.

It is funny but its also a low risk moderate reward fight. Pascal's cashing out, he's trying to use up his A side status before he becomes B side or gatekeeper.

If they're going to do all these MMA Vs Boxing fights, it would be nice if they put them all on the same card, so we could get it out the way, then forget it all from then on.

I'm not sure if there's history between the 2, pretty random if not. But yeah..Pascal beats Nick up.
