Of course, when he says "fight", he means have a sporting contest under restrictive rules in which only two parts of the body are allowed to be used
Because if it were an actual fight he would just get choked in about 30 seconds. Lol I wonder if that is what bothers guys like him at the core, knowing in a real life situation, his boxing would do basically nothing.Comment

See them all the time when Floyd vs Conor comes up aswell.
Is standing up and throwing punches not considered a ''fight'' anymore? Is it only when your rolling around and choking people that you are actually fighting?
What makes these MMA fanboys think that UFC guys automatically would be able to take a boxer to the ground and choke him out? What if he gets caught cleanly and is knocked the **** out before he manages to take the boxer down?
Try rushing a world class boxer to take him down and see what happens. They'd get sparked. It's one thing trying to take a fellow UFC/MMA fighter down to choke him out it's another trying that with a world class boxer who's timing to the average guy or MMA guy would be levels ahead.Comment

Got a combat sports boner at this concept & I've discussed it before myself.
Boxing/MMA hybrid rules:
-In the Octagon
-MMA Gloves or MMA-like Gloves with more protected fingers to avoid eye poking issues
-3 to 5, 5 minute rounds
-Boxing only, no wrestling, grappling, kicking, etc.
Lets do this.
So you just want boxing with MMA'ish gloves? That's hardly hybrid though.Comment

Yea I like it. I don't think you can do much with the fighting styles to make it even cuz boxers would be at too much of a disadvantage if you included kicks, wrestling or BJJ. And I think MMA guys are more battle tested with MMA gloves so you'd be seeing some boxers getting slept to the shock of some boxing fans. I think MMA gloves boxing would be the sh^t. Hell I've mentioned that several times in ways to make boxing more exciting (& safe, but thats a whole other topic).Comment

And your missing the point on the "fight" aspect. I can't speak on your experiences as far as posts you've seen, but I will say it's not about "rolling and choking" being a sole indicator of an "actual" fight, but rather a fight encompasses various factors to where restricting yourself to only two hands may put you at a disadvantage. Not all "fights" are the same. Just keep in mind a fight doesn't mean solely "hands" nor "rolling and choking". With that said, one shouldn't be blamed for saying Floyd schools McGregor in a boxing ring just as much as one shouldn't be blamed for saying McGregor would whoop Floyd in a cage.Comment
