I still think Manny woulda had a legitimate shot pre-Marquez KO
Floyd is so incredibly prolific though defensively, and with his masterful counter game that it would still have been doubtful for a prime Manny...but a prime Manny woulda at least had a real shot
But the Marquez KO totally changed him. He became way more of a boxer -- and is now incredibly calculated with his risks. Before JMM 4 he threw caution to the wind. Now he's soooooooooooooo much more selective and cautious.
Manny's actually a very underrated boxer...he's 5-1 since the Marquez KO and got all five W's by simply boxing for the most part. With the only loss to the best boxer of the generation.
But yeah, trying to box with Floyd Mayweather...that's a recipe for a surefire UD loss. Which is what happened that night. Manny tried to box him. To have had any shot Manny would've had to have been the Manny of old -- the Manny who would throw a thousand punches in a fight. And that version of Manny became totally extinct after Marquez blasted him.
