Khan is a poor man's Linares. Seriously, Amir is so overrated

Just doing a comparison of the two and you realise how ridiculous the hyperbole around Khan always has been.

There is a comparison to be made - both tall fighters with blazing handspeed and combination punchers, and with shaky chins.

But then you look at Linares - the awesome balance, boxing instincts, the variety of his combinations, the gliding footwork, the hurtful snap on his punches. Even his IQ and defence are getting better as he gets older.

And then look at Khan - as I've always said, fast hands but slow defence. Lunging in, reaching in. Predictable attack. Over-egged combinations. Little boxing IQ and ability to adjust or change his tempo.

Oh, I know. It's still not great, though.

Linares is so much more fluid and one of the best combination punchers in boxing. His defensive lapses and susceptibility to cuts will probably come back to haunt him again one day.

But as far as pure offense, it's just great to watch.

Terrible comparison and a ****** thread. Jorge Linares is a three-weight, four time World champion. You shouldn't be so disrespectful towards him.

When Amir Khan bites the kebab too hard his jaw breaks. Jorge Linares can bite tacos no problem. This comparison is ******, never compare kebabs to tacos.

I was thinking the same thing. Both blessed with skills but because of mental lapses can get laid out at any minute of a fight. Linares is more skilled but he hasn't faced the level of competition as Khan. He hasn't suffered as devastating defeats as Khan.

im british and agree completely with the comparsion , if you took away both of there speed , linares is vastly superior in evrery aspect khan is overrated and always has been since winning silver as a 17 year old when gb only sent 1 boxer .He has terrible technique for and intangibles papered over with lightening speed. That being said the sky commentary team talking about linares being one of the greats 3 weight world champ etc has british casuals thinking hes a prime roberto duran lol... no great gets kod by demarco ,but to be fair since leaving roach hes fighting to his strengths again, he is an elite level boxer ,with classy silky skills and GREAT speed, but way to fragile in every aspect to beat any of the real elite around 130 - 140 with power , cuts easy , chinny and gasses late , at 135 kevin mitchell is his best win yet hes a unified champ after winning a vacant belt and beating crolla on points ! Crawford would of played with him ,though equally linares plays with flangan and beats him any way he chooses for another easy belt ! everyting in a nutshell that is killing boxing !
