Comments Thread For: Who Is The Number One "Pound For Pound" Boxer Now?

By Andreas Hale - Boxing's fictional pound for pound rankings are in shambles after this past weekend's event that saw Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez suffer his first defeat in controversial fashion at the hands of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Gennady "GGG" Golovkin narrowly escape his bout with Daniel Jacobs with a decision that had the boxing community up in arms...

Lomachenko and Crawford are the top two boxers, they have the most skills.

Lomachenko is the best fighter today and he has all the makings of an ATG. just needs the right names in his resume but unless he goes Rally high in weigh, he beats everybody.

any list without Ward #1 is not a respectable list. period.

        quality of opponents matter.

Kovalev top five p4p, feared, ducked, undefeated, prime. a guy even Mayweather advised Ward to stay away from.

Jacobs. 2nd best at 160 but that's not saying too much since that division is not deep. nowhere near a p4p list.

Rungvisai. a guy with a padded record who nobody knows a damn thing about.

Ward p4p best no matter how you slice it.

best wins vs Russell and Walters. none of those guys were ever near a p4p list anywhere.

Rigo's win over top five p4p Donaire more impressive than Loma's resume. a guy like Salido never beats Rigo under any circumstances.

I'd back Rigo over both Loma and Ward.

            1. Rigondeaux
            2. Lomachenko

The rest can be debated over.

Why no one talks about Canelita as*top 5 p4p ? He got skills and has pretty good resume. Been in ring with Hatton, Froid, Cotto, Trout, Angulo, Mosley, Jossesito Lopez, Lara, Kirkland. Aint gonna talk bout Khans and Smiths. I see todays Canelo giving Floyd more tough fight.

Well thought out and explained article. Nobody here will like it because they're all carrying banners but it's still a logical article.
