Golovkin VS Pavlik is 50/50, but Martinez VS Golovkin is a win for Golovkin, Martinez will win the early rounds but Gennady will eventually stop him

Anybody with flat feet, slow, and easy to hit is an easy fight for ggg. Pavlick gets destroyed.

Prime Martinez is exactly the type of fighter who will give GGG fits. Interesting match but I have to go with Martinez by clear UD. His movement, awkwardness, decent pop and speed are the key.

              He'd beat both.

Martinez and his promoter basically said that they didn't wanna fight GGG. Pavlik was a bit of a wild card so I wouldn't bet on him.

I think he beats both. Punch for punch he would break Pavlik down before Pavlik broke him down.

Martinez would be one of the few GGG opponents with no size advantage and his style of quickly moving in and out would play into GGG's which revolves around backing you into corners... Going with GGG again there.

Cmooon he would beat both, im not completely sold on GGG but still he is a really good champ !

I was a fan of Pavlik back in the day, but he was limited, slow on his feet, and he didnt really used his reach, it would be fun while it lasted but i think ggg would destroy him.

Prime Martinez imo was at 154, he could give ggg problems with his movement but he does like to trade, he did it in most of his fights, and i dont think that would be a good idea for him against a GGG.

Still we will never know, fantasy match ups are always great to analize, would you imagine a Hagler vs GGG, pheeew that would be a hell of a fight IMO.

It was comments by Lou Dibella that made a lot of people feel Martinez was ducking GGG. He pretty much admitted it was the fight that needed to happen but that they would never seriously consider it because GGG was too much risk for the money. Too lazy to google.

Martinez would have probably taken the fight but Lou himself is a greasy duckmaster, perhaps the ultimate greasy duckmaster in the sport.

When he said that that was also when he knew Martinez knee was gone and he was looking for Martinez last big payday. And even though his knee was gone Martinez had still agreed to fight GGG after the Cotto fight if he had won.

This is the quote you're looking for

"Sergio will be out for at least a year. You saw his last fight, he won it on guts and will and balls alone. He had no knee, he had no hand, and I'm not sending a champion who is 38-years-old - after a year plus layoff - into a ring with this guy. I'm not saying they will never fight. I'm not speaking for Sergio, who is a grown as man and controls his own career. The successor to Sergio Martiknez has already been determined and the next great middleweight is Triple G."

His other quote in 2012 after Sergio hurt his knee against Chavez Jr

"Who would give a flying ****, and why are you even asking? Who knows Gennady Golovkin other than you, me and a few other people? How many people would he bring to the table? How much money would he generate? ... He is a very good fighter, but it's a fight that economically makes no sense."
