Well said, PBR...but as that's the way Lemieux always fights. like I said...1950's style..which is why he lost to GGG. Basically, Lemieux's trainer and team never dreamed GGG wouldn't go toe-to-toe with him---and when GGG fought so crafitly with that fawkin' pile-driver of a jab, Lem's team had no idea what to do--kinda of like a the man who only has a hammer; all he sees are nails. Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

I really didn't want David to fight GGG at that point in his career but Lem has a family to feed and the money was right I guess. Put Lemieux with Roach or someone of that calibre for 2 years and things could be much different. Don't forget, even though it seems to ppl like me that David's been around for ever, he's actually still only in his upper 20's. So he still has a great deal of learning in front of him. Look at how Madaina changed and how Kirkland changes with Ann Wolfe.

There never was a question about Lemieux's chin---don't know where that comes from. His big problem a couple of years ago was that he wouldn't train well, partied , and most importantly, had a tendency to get tired in the mid-rounds. I was actually worried that was going to happen with Stevens. That's exactly what happened with Rubio...David punched the shyte out of him the 1st half of the fight and then got winded. To think that a Rubio could beat Lemieux is almost unthinkable now.

With DLH not wanting the fight with GGG to go ahead, or Golovkin's team not accepting the flat fee or whatever, Lemieux and Canelo would be a very good fight. Both with GB, September I can see it happening.

I still feel he got lucky against an old Cotto and I believe so do his handlers which is why all his fights are carefully contolled against cherry picked opponents
The fight vs. Floyd wasn't competitive at all. Canelo was too young, inexperienced and drained like a corpse in the weigh-in. He worried more about making weight than actually training correctly for that fight. It was too premature.

BTW he has fought other two very competitive fights: vs. Trout, who had just defeated Cotto, and later on, vs. Lara.

Had Canelo fought Lara and Cotto first and THEN Floyd, at 154, not 152, Canelo would have had a chance of winning that fight. Floyd as usual, found the perfect timing to fight Canelo. Too green and drained, too inexperienced as to facing A-class level fighters. Pacqiao would have actually damaged Canelo way more than the little damage Floyd inflicted on Canelo, if they had fought at 152 at that same time (Pac instead of Floyd). Today it would be a totally different story, Canelo would actually CONNECT a few 100% clean shots on Floyd, and most probably stun him real bad if not knock him down or out, like he did to Khan.
