Comments Thread For: David Lemieux is Ready To Fight Canelo, Billy Joe Saunders

After Gennady Golovkin's tough victory over Daniel Jacobs this past Saturday, the middleweight division picture has more clarity, and David Lemieux is figuring out where he fits into it. Following Lemieux's devastating knockout victory over Curtis Stevens, his stock is as high as it's ever been. So while boxing fans are still hoping that a Golovkin showdown with Canelo Alvarez is just around the corner, the Canadian slugger is keeping his name in the hat in case GGG can't make a deal happen.

Jacobs may actually have a fan base now, and Montreal is a short flight from New York.

Good call, I would love to see these 2 fights, I would probably favour Jacobs over Lemieux in what I think would be a war, but I would love to see Lemieux destroy Eubank..

Lem Vs BJS/Eubank are good shouts. Wouldn't mind seeing them.

"We would (fight Saunders) in a heartbeat. Tomorrow, if he wants. We want the world titles. But I think with David's performance, Billy Joe Saunders ain't gonna be running to us,”

Understatement of the century. No belts on offer, and Saunders knows he would lose the Canelo or Golovkin payday (which increasingly looks like Golovkin in June).

Ideally Golovkin unifies vs Saunders in June, Canelo in Sept, then Jacobs rematch in Dec. Even if he didn't fight Saunders or Canelo, would probably take till Dec to arrange a Jacobs rematch anyway, and if Golovkin loses meantime, then Jacobs could target the winner.

While Golovkin sees that schedule out, would be good to see Jacobs in vs Eubank in the interim, but thats another one that will be running in the opposite direction (both from Lemieux and Jacobs). Only one that would stand and fight Jacobs would be Lemieux.

If K2/GGG don't accept the supposed $15mill offer, it will be interesting to see if Canelo finally fights a top 10 MW like Lemieux. That would be an okay test.

It will also be interesting to see how if the fight gets signed, how will GGG rest, train and promote in 3 months, especially if Average Joe actually comes to win and gives GGG a decent 12 round fight. If Canelo happens to win that fight I think we'll be hearing a lot of excuses of lack of rest from the G squad.

Lemieux can punch but that's it. He's not on that level.
