Tremendous fighter and I said that before Saturday night.
Rating Jacobs as a fighter

I wonder when Ward finally fights a slick black fighter?! I think we all agree Jacobs would box Ward's ears off.Comment

Oh there they go. There they go, every time I start talkin 'bout Jacobs, a white man got to pull Pirog out their ass. That's their one, that's their one. Pirog. Pirog. Let me tell you something once and for all. Pirog was good, but compared to Jacobs, Pirog ain't ****.Comment

I changed my mind a couple of months before the fight after i studied some more of his fights and was very consistent with my posts saying he had a good chance and was being underrated.Comment

Good thread, its nice to see Jacobs actually get some praise. I didn't give him much of a chance before the fight, pretty fast and heavy handed, good technically (threw some nice combinations) but does seem to switch of a little at times and doesn't have the best head movement (GGG was finding him constantly with his jab).
GGG aside I dont see anyone really giving him any trouble at 160 at least at the moment. I would favor Jacobs over the likes of Canelo, lemieux, Saunders etc. Worthy of his place as the second best fighter at 160.Comment

Good boxing pedigree, good athlete, decent speed, and very respectable power. He is a world level guy for sure.
But I wouldn't get carried away either. The quality of the middleweight division is so-so, that's been the question mark over Golovkin. And for Golovkin himself, Saturday night showed that a traditional weakness of the Soviet Bloc fighters seems to apply to him also, i.e. he struggles with exchanges in the pocket.
Danny's success was mainly in those pocket exchanges where he stepped in, flurried, and stepped out. On the outside Danny was no more than ok. He moved well considering that Golovkin is an excellent stalker, but he wasn't landing many clean shots from range.
Again, he's obviously a good fighter. Going life and death with another world class fighter in Golovkin proves that. But beyond that it's hard to say too much. There just isn't a lot of top notch competition out there for either man to fully prove themselves.Comment
