Early #GGGJacobs PPV Numbers

Only reason this fight was in ppv was to pay Jacobs. Dude can't pull in numbers but demand money. But if GGG didn't do this, naysayers would cry about how his opponents suck. If he doesn't do ppv, he can't pay quality opponents. Common sense mateA real boxing fan wouldn't want **** fights on ppv that don't belong!!! Hoping for bad numbers isn't bad at all when you know a fight should be on normal network tv and not ppv. Only a moron would hope for good numbers... then you will keep getting these kinds of fights on ppv.
Only "boxing fans" nowadays would accept a non star fighting a B- class fighter on ppv. No other sport has a platform like boxing there genius... usually the sports you're talking about are on normal network tv.Comment

if this is true they should consider it a success, this wasn't PPV material and make a lot of people miss one of the FOTY so far choco-rungvisaiComment

PPV is designed for the casual market. a fight must have crossover appeal or include an exciting Hispanic fighter (preferably from Mexico or PR) since that fanbase is what drives boxing in America.
GGG being from Kazakhstan hurts his appeal sadly. Imagine him being from P.R. none of his PPVs would flop. no chance.
and Jacobs is virtually unknown to casuals.
undercard was strong. Chocolatito suffers from the little man curse. people just dont give a fk about 115 lbs guys beating each other up no matter their skillset.
I never understood why certain "fans" cheer when a PPV flops. it's just another black eye for the sport because matching the best against the best keeps drawing crappy numbers.
if a fight doesn't have crossover appeal or an exciting Hispanic fighter just don't put it on PPV.Last edited by DeLorean; 03-21-2017, 01:25 PM.Comment

success? K2 LOST money. Remember the lemieux fight and Loeffler saying it needed to do 200k to make money and that he thought it would do much more then that. Well this PPV cost much more money to make and did LESS then Lemieux which was already a failure. K2 hasn't released the live gate, there were thousands unsold tickets on fight night. GGG is not a draw and you see why it's so laughable his fans and his teams are with their demands to canelo. You need to bend over and take whatever he gives you and cash out. That 15m offer might be cut in half right now.Comment

I've never had a satisfactory answer to the question of why we should believe Glaser
Doesn't America have any independent orgs who track television ratings? I don't believe figures self-reported by promoters but I see no reason to believe Glaser eitherComment

did you read my post? i say this fight wasn't PPV material, so selling 150K should be considered a success in base that, again, this fight wasn't PPV material.success? K2 LOST money. but Ward/Kovalev IS a megafight.
PPVs either flop or succeed based on casual interest. to get casuals to pay you need crossover appeal. or an exciting Hispanic fighter. if you don't have any of that it's gonna flop.
Ward/Kovalev was the Superbowl fight for us hardcore fans. but it should be obvious by now hardcore fans don't buy ****.Comment
