  • Roman is STILL p4p no.1

    IMO.

yes ok P4P is about dominating your opposition etc.

but hey ward got dropped and got a gift and he's widely touted as the new p4p king, so why shouldnt roman still be no.1?

He has no business being in with these much bigger guy's at the tail end of his career, he's not in his prime, he's not in his weight class.

I was a fan of the guy for the past couple of years, but i have to say saturday night i become a fanboy of the guy.

Practically ANY other boxer would of given up after getting cut of that bad.

The dude was literally looking towards the heavens each time he got of his stool, Roman has said he ' would die in the ring' and last weekend proved it. The heart he showed was awe inspiring, the way he came back and won that fight...

If he was 3 weight classes bigger, people would be slurping on his dong, proclaiming him TBE.

Roman Gonzalez the greatest little man ever and one of the best fighters of our generation.

What is your criteria for P4P? What does P4P Mean To You?

I will go with what a Boxing Legend considers P4P and based off THAT, NO Roman Gonzalez is NOT #1 P4P mostly because his Defense is BRUTAL! He has taken more punishment his last 2 Fights than some fighters entire career and NO that is NOT GOOD! #1 P4P Most Exciting Fighter In Boxing I will give him that for sure!

He just lost to a mostly unknown fighter who's resume was riddled with obscure names.

He hasn't looked spectacular in his last 3 or so fights against good names, but not elite talents in the sport.

He didn't rematch his toughest challenges in the past and demanded ridiculous purses for them.

          Facts.

I need to watch the Rungvisai fight again, I didn't pay full attention to it, but I did feel like Rungvisai was getting the better of Roman.

So I guess you will rate GGG very high in the P4P list then, he went from taking needless shots against Brook for no reason to boxing cute and smart against a highly rated Daniel Jacobs.

Compare faces of GGG from Brook to Jacobs, GGG barely took much damage over 36 minutes to Jacobs and that is because he was defending himself much better, and Jacobs is meant to be a much bigger puncher than Brook.
              Masterful performance by GGG

I always go with the judges decision whether I agree with it or not. I think Ward is clearly #1 right now given titles in multiple weight classes and the Kov win. I think Roman is still one of the best out there. It is completely reasonable to keep him in the top 5 but i think he has to drop since he lost officially.

I just think 115 is a little too much for him. He has taken incredible amounts of punishment his last 2 fights despite the great performances.

                  Incorrect.

Was he losing? absolutely, did he finish much stronger, outland the guy by over 100 punchs and deserve to keep his belts?
                  absolutely imo.

He hasnt looked spectacular and hasnt DOMINATED the opposition, but like i said he's past prime and in a division where he does not belong and STILL winning.

Let's be honest now, Cuadras looked like a shell of himself last weekend.

                  Roman took his soul.

I don't know how you can talk about dodging 'tough fights' when Roman has been in B2B FOTY slobberknockers with extremely tough, bigger men.

Don't get me wrong i couldnt care less about the little guy's until recently, i just think because he's tiny he doesnt get his due props.
