personally, I'd rather see Jacobs/Lemieux before GGG vs any of those two.
I would love to see Jacobs/Lemieux. Both guys throw bombs and the fight has a built in revenge story line considering how close Jacobs is with Stevens.

GGG vs. Canelo in September with Jacobs vs Lemieux as the co-main event. Winners have to fight each other next. Make it happen boxing gods.

We tired of seeing him go the easy route wasting fights with the wades of the world and Saunders is another wade. Mr 154 or 168? Turned into only 160 and even when he has 2 bigger fights at 160 he still makes excuses to after lame fights fans don't care about. SMH

It was a close fight with a lot of close rounds. Shade a few of them in the opposite direction and you have yourself a different, albeit just as fair, result...

        It's a poor article.

Of course he wants BJS next. BJS has already agreed to all of the terms, and he's happy to fight in Khazakstan. After 6/7 years on the road, GG wants a homecoming to fulfil his dream of becoming the undisputed MW champ.

What's wrong with that? Nothing. Only the haters on here are siding with Fitzsimmons. Put yourself in his shoes. Why on earth would he turn down that opportunity to pursue a rematch with Jacobs? Sure, it was a close fight. Yes, a rematch would be great at some point. But it doesn't have to be right now, when he has the opportunity to fight for the only remaining belt in the division. Anybody who can't understand this is a fool.

Regarding Hopkins, he waited 6 years for King's tournament to be put in place, he was bigger than GG, and he stayed at the weight for a further 5 years AFTER he'd won all of the belts, only moving out of the division after 2 losses to Taylor.

He has the same aspirations as any other fighter in any other division.

James DeGale wants all of the belts at SMW.

          What's the difference?

He's said from the outset he wants all of the MW belts. It's not his fault the other champs weren't/aren't all outstanding fighters.

Golovkin vs BJS is a good fight and needs to happen. What nonsense to say the only top fight beat is Lee and that reason enough for Golovkin to skip it. Hello Mr. Fitz, the only top fight Jacobs beat was Quillin and that didn't stop us from wanting that fight.

Canelo vs Golovkin is the fight to make afterwards. Jacobs should focus on reestablishing himself by beat 1 or 2 top fighters in the division. Jacobs knew the deal and let the fight slip through his fingers. This isn't a charity event that placates to the whims of dillusional writers and fans.
            Great post.

            The article was very poor.

            • Complete bullcrap of an article.

Golovkin's stated goal is to unify with all the belts, who is the author to say that's not a worthwhile ambition. 'Unified champion' goes down in the history books, whether we like the sanctioning bodies or not (I don't). If the author doesn't like it, write more about why Saunders still has the WBO belt anyway.

Golovkins goal of unification is a bit like climbing a mountain. Of course you can say 'pointless, its just a mountain for crissakes, why bother ?'. Climber will tell you 'cuz its there'.

He and his fans can't say he's the most feared man or that he's being ducked when you have 15m on the table for canelo, and a rematch with Jacobs all bigger fights. GGG pick one of those 2. Any other fight and he's ducking. Fans will excuse not giving Jacobs a rematch for a mega fight like canelo. But not giving Jacobs a rematch when the public demand is so high for a meaningless fight with Saunders in june? Get the phuk out of here. How many people that paid to see your fight this weekend have EVER seen Saunders fight? That will be pulling a salka and he deserves to be tar and feathered if he goes that route.
He has a dream of obtaining all of the belts.

                You are not a fighter.

You are not walking in his shoes, trying to fulfil a lifelong dream.

If he never ends up fighting Jacobs again, then criticise him.

BJS is a good fighter when he's motivated, and he's already agreed to all of the terms to fight in June. Why should GG skip that, to fight a guy he's just beaten? They don't have to rematch right away.

                • Golovkin's an exciting fighter and fun to watch, but I always thought chasing BJS for his belt was a mistake. The same for the Alvarez fight, Oscar won't sacrifice his cash cow until he absolutely has to.
At 34, time is not on your side. Golovkin had to wait around for the Jacobs' fight, which forced 7 months of inactivity.
F**ck Billy Joe, fight, Jacobs in June. (A guy can dream can't he. lol)

                  • I wouldn't mind seeing the rematch, whether it be next or a few fights down the line but i have no issue with him fighting Saunders next for all the belts. That fight is likely to be June anyway and GGG fights quite frequently. Saunders is a good fighter when he's at his best and is a fellow world champion. Nobody should have any complaints about fighters wanting to unify.

If the Canelo fight doesn't happen this year, and i don't think it will, then the Jacobs rematch could still happen this year if that's the case.

                      Billy is not another Wade.

You obviously know nothing about him.

You still don't get it do you? He wants to obtain all of the MW belts before moving up to SMW. So you should be hoping he fights Billy for 2 reasons:

                      1. If he doesn't move up to SMW after he's obtained all of the MW belts, you and all of the other haters can have a field day criticising him to your hearts content.

                      2. If he does move up, you can see him in better, more competitive fights, against bigger opposition.

Fighting Jacobs again right now is only going to delay proceedings.
