you're right, it doesn't really work like that
the judging should be completely impartial, no question
the notion of scoring for the champion is ONLY acceptable in a situation where there is LITERALLY nothing separating the 2 contestants
if Golovkin won by 1 point, then he won
if Jacobs won by 1 point, then we won
only in a genuine draw should that come into play
it is based on the fact that any doubt whatsoever should benefit the champion..... not that judges should create doubt, because he is the champion
any doubt should favor Golovkin
either way, he got real lucky..... just like Ward
