The judges shouldn't put their thumb on the scale for anyone! To follow your logic, the defending marathon champion in the Boston marathon should run less than 25 miles while everyone else runs the full 26.2-mile distance and Usain Bolt should only run 95 meters in the 100-meter dash. That is nonsense!

He certainly was but has Sanchez turned him into a one dimensional pressure fighter to mimic chavez snr?

Golovkin had far better amateur pedigree than Jacobs - world amateur champ, Olympic silver medal - but we haven't really seen him fight off the back foot.
He has great footwork coming forward so i'm pretty sure it'd be decent going backwards. Jacobs knew what he was going to do and built his plan around it.

Also, GGG used to counterpunch far more as an amateur. Perhaps he isn't quick enough nowdays, but that could be blamed on Sanchez also.

Chocolatito failed and GGG nearly failed. They both needed to change up their style and game plan imo.

I don't think the judges should favour the champion more in scoring. They should score each round fairly. Having said that, it was a close fight with a few rounds difficult to score. Maybe Govokin by a point would be the consensus score but it was that close.

The reason Jacobs lasted 12 rounds was because he fought an almost perfect fight. He used a lot of movement to confuse Golovkin. Whenever he traded he always finished in a position where Golovkin couldn't counter. He used the south paw stance because he knew Golovkin had a lot of problems with Kassim Ouma. I watched a lot of video leading up to the fight. Two of Jacobs fights stuck out to me, against Lorenzo and Truax. Both were decent fighters (despite what most people think) and Jacobs made it look easy. Listen to Malignaggi commentary about Jacobs positioning when he KO'd Lorenzo. When he stopped Truax in the 12th round I realized he carried his power late in fights. Also listen to Mikey Garcia's prediction. He gave Jacobs a chance for the upset. It wasn't just the weight advantage why lasted 12 rounds. Jacobs has skills and he showed it on Saturday. It shouldn't be a surprise he did so well.

You can have a high KO rate when you fight such poor quality opposition. Bring Hopkins up on the same resume for 37 fights and he would have a huge KO rate as well.

All cause jacobs survived doesn't mean he won, it was bound to happen for the streak to end, Jacobs proved he's a A fighter but narrowly lost .

I re-watched the fight just because all the turmoil in media regarding robbery. I still ended up with my original score of 115:113 for GGG. Albeit the fight was close and Danny boxed very nicely, I still think GGG was a winner in a close fight.

Jacobs still would have went to sleep had he been caught with the right shot. It appears speed is what is a problem for him rather than blunk force that he can see is coming. Fair enough, but he still didn't win.

Lol Hopkins had a huge amount of bums during his title reign as well. It's perfectly clear that GGG would still have a better KO ratio than that of Hopkins even if they fought the same opposition but that's really besides the point. Jacobs is a special fighter and the one time he was caught cold and knocked silly by Pirog is clearly not a representation of his chin being weak.
