Why? Ward needs to rematch Kovalev since that was way more controversial than this was, this isnt a rematch kind of fight.
ATGs Usually Give Rematches...

Rematches are just royal waste of time and money, especially in this abysmal situation in boxing where fighters only fight once a year. I don't really care who wins in a rematch. Some people obviously do. But I'd rather see new fights to get an idea how they would look like, instead seeing the same 2 faces again. We don't have nine lives doe.Comment

Still can't believe people shit on GGG even after he said of course to a rematch right after the fight ended.
What did Ward say - "of course, Im not gonna negotiate a fight right now, Imma go home and relax and enjoy the victory"
Difference in class and it's been 4 months and nowhere close to finishing the dealsComment

Funny, you dont mention word you little fan boy? he;s the most recent example of clear duckingComment

Ward has already signed for the rematch.
What needs to be worked out- and rightfully so- is the money.
They are prizefighters. They don't work for free and Ward has let it be known he expects a big payday, probably one that doesn't have to be subsidized by his Roc Nation contract.Last edited by koolkc107; 03-19-2017, 07:24 PM.Comment

When you can't call him by his right name and insult him by calling him lil g you are a serious GGG hater. Your opinion on anything to do with GGG is worthless. He won a close ud over Jacobs in Jacobs's home town by several points. He doesn't owe Jacobs a rematch and only haters like you insist he does. He has important fights coming with Saunders and Canelo and he isn't putting them on hold for the man he just beat. It's too bad for you that you can't order fighters you hate who they must fight next. Tell Ward to give Kovalev a rematch sooner rather than later. When did Leonard give Hagler a rematch??????Comment

A few things:
1. Floyd had to rematch JLC because he arguably lost that fight (ie. he was out landed), and he was injured so he wanted to prove that JLC couldn't beat him healthy. Floyd DID Not have to rematch Maidana. He rematched him because there were no other viable options for him and the first fight did good PPV numbers. This was in mid 2014, with no Pacquiao fight on the horizon.
2. A big part of the reason Pac rematched Marquez was because of the financial incentive. It's a fight that did big business and you could keep reselling it because it was close every time. He could have have stopped after the 2nd fight. But he ran out of viable options and decided to fight him two more times, which generated 1M PPV buys each.
3. Froch fought Groves twice because, once again, financial incentive and the first fight was seen as very controversial because many thought the ref stopped it early.
The main theme of all the fights you mentioned is money. The rematches were profitable and the fighters didn't have other options.
Golovkin has other options. He can fight BJS and he can fight Canelo which will do better numbers than a second Jacobs fight. That's the difference.Comment

MAX ASKED Golovkin: "YES its my job, I would give him rematch, absolutely"
MAX ASKED Jacobs: *didn't answer* "I'm focused on future"Comment
