Stand by for another p4p thread that will end up a discussion about resumes.
this ^^
P4P has nothing to do with current resume
ATG = resume
current ATG (which I suspect most think is P4P) = resume
P4P = ceteris paribus (who would win in a head-to-head if ALL things were equal, ALL meaning natural weight)..... based on style/form..... is completely different to current ATG
Golovkin is P4P top10 based on the eye test imho, he could even be close to top5..... but he has not faced elite opponents or a full range of styles..... almost completely because of his own making
P4P is largely irrelevant, and horribly over-rated
I don't necessarily agree with ggg being p4p #1 but it's just funny to me that Crawford is essentially a shoe in for top 5 p4p despite having a resume no better than gggs yet we have ppl like atlas and ggg haters that don't even have him in the top 10
You have to give credit for moving up divisions. By the time you are in your 4th division of course you are going to struggle. Cuadras is at a high level. Estrada too. Higher than Lemieux. Come on - if you think Lemieux is at the same level as Estrada or even Cuadras ydksab - just look at the records, look at the movement. 115 is the hottest division in boxing right now - better even than CW and LMW.
Can a boxer staying in one division trump a 4 division champ? It all depends on resume and performance. GGG has the performance side of it down - 23kos are testimony to that - but through no fault of his own the MW div has been relatively weak these last few years. SO he still has more work to do to climb to #1 p4p .. even if he knocks Danny the fuck out on Sat and even if Gonzalez loses.

Thats your interpretation of P4P - but you are injecting a new category / measurement into the equation with current ATG - whoever talks about a current all time great?? - the very term is a contradiction - you are either a current great or an ATG but not a current all time great.
Most people don't separate out current greats from P4P fighters - they are one and the same thing in most people's eyes. And of course resume counts as does the eye ball test. But we all know you can look great but then get clobbered - so the litmus test has to be your record and especially the quality of your record.
My only issue with resume is that it mustn't be on a downward trajectory in terms of quality of opposition - as is the case with Pacquiao. You are right with ceteris paribus but the the greater indication for how to answer that question should be based on what you have achieved not what you might achieve because you look great. Otherwise we would have Tank davis and Inoue on the list because it sure looks like they will dominate all in years to come.

I'm looking at 4-divisions champion versus 4-versions champion this way: when you jump from one division to another - you have options and can avoid most dangerous guy and go for the weakest titlist, when you're trying to unify one division - you have to beat whoever is on top and you don't have a choice. In GGGs case titlists really were running scared like ****roaches - Sturm, Geale, Barker, Martinez, Cotto, Canelo.
I think Loma is aware of that and makes his judgement on what he sees in the ring.
