The timing of this fight was something that was in the works for a while...I don't remember which fight (I think Dominic Wade), but I recall watching Danny sitting right next to Tom for one of GGG's fights with Danny's son right with them. They were talking the whole fight. I knew then 1) the camps had a good relationship and 2) we'd get the Jacobs/GGG fight soon.

I don't think Danny was trying to "time the fight" perfectly. I think this is the time Tom wanted to make the fight. Jacobs has never really been in a position to postpone a payday/career fight.

I take these remarks as Danny trying to come up with reasons why he's competitive in the contest. The odds aren't in his favor at the moment.

Pacquiao waited until both got old until cashing out. He tried waiting until JMM got old to get a clear win, it went wrong for him.

Do No1 contenders usually hang around waiting to be called out by the champion?
that idiot mentions Jan 2016 because he knows damn well that K2 spent most of 2015 chasing Miguel Cotto and werent thinking about Danny Jacobs, especially since at that time all Jacobs did was beat Fletcher for the vacant title and defend it once against Truax. And after Canelo beat Cotto, Loeffler did an interview with Ring in Feb 2016 specifically mentioning interest in doing a Jacobs fight in NY.

But Lil G fans told me the regular title is a world title and recognised as the same as the Super title, that's why Lil G has 17 defences.

I thought he was speaking about quillin vs Rosado

I mean, that's kind of what it sounds like. Which is what GGG fans said all along, that these guys were ducking GGG all these years but would finally start to fight him when he was on the wrong side of 34, 35. And that's where we are. On saturday, we find out how much GGG has aged, or if he really was just looking vulnerable on purpose to lure in opponents to finally fight him.
This is why Kell Brook deserves so much credit for fighting Triple G when he had good financial alternatives in the welterweight division. Let's not forget he kept on fighting with a broken eye socket, unlike so many other fighters who have shown unwillingness to continue after taking the first big punch.

Now if Jacobs beats Triple G he won't get full credit as 2016 was not the best year for Golovkin and it could be said that he has not proven himself since the Lemieux fight.

I think he was referring to Peter Quillin who stopped Rosado on cuts also. He did this for Quillin just as he is doing it for Golovkin.

While I don't doubt that Golovkin could have beaten Sturm from the moment he got the WBA regular title, I agree that regular title defenses should not be counted as a world title defense. I also think comparing Hopkins' record to Hagler's or Monzon's is inaccurate as Monzon and Hagler held all the titles during all their defenses. In short, it's a pointless achievement unless you have all the belts.

Yeah because Miguel Cotto has always been a genuine MW lol He beat Martinez at a catchweight; not even at the full limit. Makes sense to chase a career JW/Welterweight.

Bu bu bu, I thought Jacobs was ducking GGG?

When in actuality, they never said a peep about Jacobs. Tinfoil Terry, you know this.
