  • Comments Thread For: Lemieux Misses Second-Day IBF Weigh-In for Stevens Fight

David Lemieux made weight without issue Friday afternoon for his fight Saturday night against Curtis Stevens.
We'll never know, however, if Lemieux would've met the IBF's second-day weigh-in obligation. Lemieux missed the IBF's second-day weigh-in entirely Saturday morning in Verona, New York.
Handlers for Lemieux (36-3, 32 KOs), who has held the IBF middleweight title, told Stevens' handlers that they didn't know about the second-day weigh-in for their 12-round middleweight match. In accordance with IBF rules, fighters cannot weigh more than 10 pounds over their division's limit at weigh-ins conducted the morning after an official weigh-in.

No excuse this is bush league by lemiuex. No chance his team didn't know about the second day weigh in. Not buying that bs. Look at his body on weigh in and on fight night dude always rehydrates more then 10 pounds so skipped the weigh in because it's a minor belt and wants the extra weight on fight night. I don't care about this belt it's not a world title but it sucks for Stevens because they agree to it and now lemiuex has an extra advantage.

What's the point of a second day weigh in? It just damages the fighters.

He claims he wants a rematch with GGG. Fighting for this POS BELT puts him in position to earn a mandatory spot for GGG's IBF

Yeah its a bogus belt who cares if it's not on the line. But as soon as they got off the scales lemiuex could go full tilt to pack on weight where Stevens had to hold back because this weigh in and 10 pound restriction that both sides agreed to. I don't think this will play that huge a factor in the outcome of the fight. But it's a lame stunt to gain a small advantage and unprofessional.

Lemieux is a punk. I put my money on Stevens, hope I am not going to lose the bet after witnessing another Arturo Gatti v Joey Gamache.

I don't care one bit; neither should anybody else.

Once a fighter makes the weight at the appropriate time the day before the fight, they can pack on as much as they want.

I want to see the healthiest possible boxers in the ring Saturday night.
