This was a premeditated move by Lemieux to gain an advantage. First he said he didn't know about the second day weigh in. He's the former IBF champ so we know that's a lie. Then he said he never had any intention to fight for the regional belt. OK that's cool but inform the other party so they can make the decision if they want to follow the rehydration rule or not
    This is a great summation.

It's a weak, POS act by a POS fighter.

He was an IBF WORLD champ - this was some minor IBF title that he could have easily forgotten was sanctioning the fight.

Stevens still had another 12 hours to rehydrate before the fight.

Please don't act like this played a role in the outcome.

He easily forgot they had a 3% fee coming out of his purse? He gave two different stories. The first story was he forgot. The second story was he never intended to fight for that title. Which story do you believe?

He clearly didn't forget about it or any other BS excuse. It was intentional he decided screw that belt I rather be as big and strong as I can rather then win a secondary belt. It's lame, bush league, unprofessional but where I draw the line is to call this cheating. It's not. His only obligation was to make weight and he did. Sure professional thing to do is tell the Stevens camp so they can decide if it's important enough to make second weight for belt or blow it off as well.

To me I see no difference from this and Floyd sucker punching Ortiz. Sure most fighters after a foul go over say sorry tap gloves, hug whatever but it's not a rule it's just professional thing to do. Instead when Ortiz reached over to apologize with his defense down floyd sucker punched him. But it's not cheating what Floyd did and damn sure not what lemieux did.

              Both...

If you never intended to fight for the title, the chances that you forget are even more likely.

Most boxers have managers that handle all that ****. He was prolly told three months ago when the fight was signed that "ay, IBF is gonna sanction this fight for one of their minor titles," and he couldn't be buggered to care, nor remember.

I don't care either way, Lemieux was gonna weigh the same regardless, as he still had another 13ish hours to rehydrate.

So he got to 170 by the morning, and then proceeded to get to 175-178 which is wot I'm guessing normally walks in the right at - somewhere close to 180.

Stevensprolly gained another 5-8 pounds himself, and was 173 in the ring.

Ok, I concede it was unprofessional... But I'mnot gonna pretend like it had ANY effect on the fight WHATSOEVER. If they fought 10 times, same result as last night happens at least 8/10, Lemieux restricted to ten pounds by morning of fight or not.
