What a boxer's guarantee/PPV split should be based on, is pretty straightforward:
What is the fighter bringing to the table for this fight, and based off him being in the promotion, how much will it add to the salability of the fight?
Or - "how many asses in seats, and eyeballs on television sets is this fighter going to bring towards this particular fight"?
In the case of GGG regarding a fight with Canelo, well, there is a clear A-side, and that is definitely Canelo.
However, GGG is in the unique situation of NOT being a typical B-side "opponent." He is an "A-minus side," if you will.
So there we have it: GGG 35%/Canelo 65%. SIMPLE. DONE.
That leaves $50,000,000
50,000,000 x 30%= $15,000,000
So if the fight is THAT huge it's a 70/30 split. The less it makes the higher GGG 30% goes up...Comment

Canelo can't sell anywhere close to the amount he could with GGG either, so it swings both ways.
Well, unless he got a Floyd rematch, or Pac fight.
Maybe Cotto II, but since that is a 50/50 type of fight, I doubt Canelo would make what he could against GGG, with a 60-70% cut.Comment

Yeah sure, Ggg fans are in denial. Meanwhile Canelo fans have had to try and justify Canelo picking a guy to fight at mw who couldn't even take a punch at 135 in khan, then giving up his belt after he said Mexicans don't f around, then moving down in weight to fight the weakest 154 champ in Smith, then choosing to now fight a known pothead who quit 2 fights ago at a ridiculous catch weight of 164.5 after saying 160 was too much for him for ggg just months ago. These are known FACTS that Canelo fans have had to defend. Not some coke head like Oscar making generalized comments about some contract that nobody has heard the specifics of.Last edited by rrayvez; 03-11-2017, 08:48 AM.Comment

Thing is, this is 3 fights out for the champ. He's got a big one next week, vs #2 MW. If this pretender is finally ready by Sept and comes forward in good faith, great we finally get to see it. Else Canelo might consider the mando route, if he wants his shot at a MW belt. He should go for the Wba regular first, for a better splitComment

The gap in ppvs is going to be even bigger after the chavez fight...Comment

How much you want to bet on it ? and you will lose that bet very soon once Klit vs Joshua happens.
But on topic , i am a big GGG fan and as much as i hate to say it its an ALL IN move by K2 on GGG boxing future , if it works and they can clean a 20M+ from the fight then its a success but if they fail the gambit and the fight is never made then GGG will regret it for the rest of his life from a "superstar" and money point of view , hope K2 knows what they are doing..... i want to see the fight.
