    Not a good comparison

Danny Garcia is basically Canelo light

They fight exactly alike, plodding, always trying to power counter with sneak short punches and horrible at pressure fighting and dont throw volume just spurt power combos.

Canelo and Lara was very similar to Garcia vs Thurman, but Thurman threw more clean landing shots than Lara.

But Canelo and Garcia both suck at coming forward they rather sit back and counter you and are flat footed all their defense comes from upper body movement.

The main thing I think they have in common is that they are sore losers. I think Marquez is an all time great. Marquez is better than Garcia in my opinion. They fight differently. Marquez is a great counter puncher but he is always coming forward while Garcia often backs up. Garcia has a hard, sneaky left hook. Danny has no weapon to compare with the deadly Marquez straight right.Marquez is better in all ways. He is a master boxer and is harder to hit. He has a bigger variety of punches and better, more accurate combinations. I don't think Garcia will improve much and he isn't as good as Marquez has shown to be. Danny is probably better than the 40 something Marquez of today. He comes up short compared to a prime Marquez.

They both try to catch their opponents with counter punch bombs...They're not so interested in countering to pile up points or to keep their guy off them. They try to hurt their opposition with most of their counters.

Canelo is much better than Garcia in my opinion. Canelo is on most people's top 10 pfp while very few have Garcia in their top 10. Garcia just barely beat Peterson and most thought he lost to Herrera who isn't even a top 10 contender. Canelo knocks out fighters of that level.

I can see definitely the Canelo comparison. They both aren't very good at pressing forward against guys who move. And their counters typically are shorter outbursts (than that of JMM)..but both look to land hard.

Canelo has better fundamentals, instincts and IQ in the ring.. he just can't help that his footwork is not the fastest.

Marquez is one of the greatest fighters ever, a technical god, and one of the toughest fighters I've ever seen.

There is 0 comparison here in any way.

You'll never see another fighter like him in your lifetime.

Most people forget, when Marquez finally got the spotlight, he was already starting to lose his prime.

Marquez was so good Barerra and morales ducked him when he was coming up. Marquez is so under appreciated in this sport. I miss him. His hands moved so effortlessly.

The combinations he threw with accuracy were insane.

I can see a lot of similarities..

                Both great counterpunchers

                Both got leaky defenses

Both can be flustered by movement

The one main difference that sets them apart, is when they counter, Danny throws one huge bomb, maybe 2, usually a left hook, right hand.. Marquez will counter with a breath taking laser precision combo of all sorts of different shots- right hand, left hook, uppercut, etc

Danny counters with a blind left hook, Marquez counters with a combination straight from the depths of hell..
                huge difference

Marquez doesn't have bad defense, his legs have been shot since his fight vs Diaz.

Every fight he fought after the Diaz fight and during that fight, he fought on shot legs.

That's how fcking good he was. he doesn't move much because he fcking can't.

Yeah JMM combinations were sweet ...he threw them from all angles and yes, blazing fast...

Garcia's combinations are short bursts... as some of you have alluded to.

Obviously, JMM has faster hands/better stamina.

Marquez is WAAAAAY more specific about how he picks his punches. Danny literally swings hooks for the fences in every exchange. Yeah they both counter punch but danny always looking for the wide looping hook.

                      Their footwork is different too
