Lineality is important but if the "champion" won't fight at the weight, it means practically nothing!

Also, I call BS on TBRB rankings system. Bellew is top 10 Heavyweight but no Klitschko...!??? AFAIK, they dropped Klitschko from the rankings in December without announcement

Bellew being in them is a joke but Wlad was removed for 12 months of inactivity.

Telling u something u prob already know here but... the lineal title is one system - but far from a perfect system - to decide who 'the man' is.
For me it puts more legitimacy back into the alphabet orgs. At least if you duck a fighter, you get your title taken away. Alvarez could duck Golovkin for the rest of his life and still be 'the man' or 'lineal mw champ'
This is a title not governed by an organisation, but by the fans... so we decide!!!

I'm on board with this thread - #1 vs #2 = fighting for lineal mw title.

'Lineality' isn't important full stop. Its an exercise thats only used when its convenient

In response to the original post, Golovkin is the no.1 middleweight in the world. Canelo is the 'lineal champion', and probably the no.3 or 4 middleweight.

Places like TBRB use separate criteria for champions than they do contenders. The champion isn't necessarily the best in the division, nor do they attempt to rank champions.

dropping your belt and draining yourself to avoid the #1 fighter is the definition of champion
