So he didn't fight Oscar Delahoya, Shane Mosley, Philip Ndou, Gennaro Hernandes, and Diego Corrales?

Floyd knows how to fight forward, or in any other way, he's just a master adapter. He knows what you bring to the table. Judah also tried to fight floyd backwards and floyd stalked him, lunges with fast right hands and jumping left hooks. Put his hands up, for easy short punches to the target. It's still hard to fight floyd backwards unless you have great reflexes and amazing footwork too. Sooner in the fight, he pills up enough points darting you while you're backing away, hence you gonna make up for it and start being the aggressor. You're back to square one.

Because even if you take the back foot approach, it's not like he's just going to start following you around and apply pressure at close range. He will just move with you but keep a steady distance as he can control the fight from distance anyway and be picking up rounds. Plus he is too sharp and accurate so will land fast scoring shots if you're not trying to engage much and he's in his comfort zone.... so it gets to the point where standing off him is just losing you rounds, so you have to start coming to him to try and make something happen.

It's not like all the fighters and trainers are dumb enough to not even consider it. They just know if you try to box too smart with Floyd, you're probably going to get decisioned 12-0.

I remember when fighters quit chasing Chris Byrd and made him come forward he looked bad, McCline, Wlad Golota etc. Everyone tried to be aggressive with Mayweather and out work him. No one ran and made him come forward and lead with punches.

Floyd can walk people down when he wants to or has to. Look at the mosley fight.. mosley got cute so floyd changed up real quick and got into attack mode.

Floyd can be boring but his toughness is underrated. He can get down when the situation calls for it.
