I was confident he would win and I thought I would be so happy see Garcia officially lose for the first time - but that fight let me so deflated.

Thurman came out on fire, he hurt Danny too but then reverted to "boxing" because he couldn't figure out how to adjust to Garcia's countering without playing it safe. And then Keith just ran for the last 2 rounds, which was kinda lame to me, especially as he wasn't even that far ahead. I had it 7-5 Thurman, and in the end, he won the fight by a round on the scorecard too.

Look, I dislike Team Garcia as much as anyone but if that was anyone else, people would have taken his side against the excessive running, like say people did with Canelo when Lara. Now, Keith's movement was nowhere near as egregious as Lara's was but still, I am disappointed he never hurt Danny again after that 2nd round. If you think about it, Lamont dominated Garcia for the last 5 rounds in their fight in a way Thurman simply didn't do last night.

Last night should have been Keith's coming out party but.... :/
He ran for the last 3 rounds.

I had it 7-5 although Keith should have pushed harder and won the fight stoppage or by like 9-3.

And then people complain the US networks can't create stars.

He went from boxing smart to all out running in the late rounds. It was pretty annoying to watch.

In general I wouldn't say it was disappointing. I thought Danny's countering was going to be an issue for a guy like Keith who has a tendency to throw wide. But overall Keith out-boxed him, frequently forcing Danny to lead and scoring well from the outside.

The division as a whole has been overrated by the media. There are good fighters there. Garcia we knew was a good fighter, and Thurman proved he was last night. But none of these guys look like superstars.

an old faded Pacquiao is still the best in the welterweight division.

Calling Thurman "One-Time" was never really accurate. Thurman"s never had the killer instinct. He's always been a guy who calculates in the ring. He does have KO power but he'll never go for broke.
Last night was disappointing. I think Thurman could have KO'd Garcia if he took some risks but he chose to play it safe and come away with a less than thrilling win.

Please stop! Thurman actually fought a smart fight, hence the reason he won. Garcia is no slouch. He was trying to time and counter Thurman the whole fight. If Thurman didn't fight the way he did there would have been a another outcome.

I like Thurman. I'm not disappointed though. I observed his flaws a few fights ago, and realized, he is what he is. His flaws make him more fun to watch. People don't realize he is a small welterweight. He is only 5'7 1/2. So to fight with the style that he does, I give him some leeway. When your level of opposition rises, only the top level of power punchers will keep KOing everyone. Guys have better chins, better defense, and better skills.

Keef "Few more times maybe" Thurman felt Danny's power to the body at some point and it had an impact as to his attack in the latter rounds.

Keef knew he was NOT going to KO Danny and decided to play it smart. Those times he did engage Danny with his reckless style, he took a sneaky shot back with him from Danny. Respect.

Bottomline: Danny fought well but should have been more active. Only Hurtrerra and bitter PEDerson fans with a gripe will kid themselves that Keef beat Danny's ass and won all the rounds... It was a competitive fight and Keef it edged out. Unlike PEDerson, Keef did not lost the first 5 rounds to Danny.

                  No problem with the decision.

He played to his strengths and to Danny's weaknesses. It won him the fight, unified the belts, and placed himself at the top of the division...for now.

All that being said, I don't think he increased his star power with that performance. Keith Thurman can talk good enough. Good Charisma. But at the end of the day, it's how you perform in the ring that catches the casual fans attention. Keith is starting to settle in as an out boxer who can explode when the opportunity arises. His days where he's labeled a destroyer are over. His trainer tells him to "fight smart" the moment he gets the lead. That's all good and gravy but it led to a lot of booing in the fight. I see him having a good career, but he may not achieve super stardom.

I like Keith Thurman, and I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but it's unfortunate I don't feel he made others like Keith Thurman. It was a win, an important win, but a win that we'll move on from. It could've been one of these guys coming out party, but it was a rather ordinary fight. The guy who could fight on the move, out boxed the guy who couldn't...THE END

Nothing to be disappointing about. He beat a borderline P4P fighter with ease. Of course he's not going to trade with Garcia for 12 rounds and give Garcia his best chance of winning...
