New York - If there was a network that has hit the ground running in the first quarter of 2017, it's been Showtime. So far the network has televised main event fights like the draw between Badou Jack (20-1-3, 12 KO's) and James Degale (23-1-1, 14 KO's), the rematch between Leo Santa Cruz (33-1-1, 18 KO's) and Carl Frampton (23-1, 14 KO's) where Santa Cruz exacted revenge on Frampton, and most recently Adrien Broner (33-2, 24 KO's) slightly edging Adrian Granados (18-5-2, 12 KO's).

    Ratings will follow PBC.

Imagine if Golovkin, Ortiz, and Fury were with Al Haymon! One can dream right? Immediately everything not PBC would be irrelevant.

I think Haymon was waiting for Schaefer to get back in the game. Mostly been feeding opponents to his elite fighters for the two or three years he was away. Now he's back and all kinds of great fights are happening. Some even on network tv!

"It' Showtime!" This has been an outstanding year of boxing thus far! What does Jim Lampley have to say now?

          October 6, 2016:

Indications that spending by boxing manager Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions has been clamped inspired HBO’s Jim Lampley to address the issue in his closing essay on “The Fight Game.”

Got a little carried away saying Browne - Thomas was a slugfest..... Was more like a one-sided beatdown after 1st Rd.

Showtime has been excellent so far this year. As long as they don't take any breaks that last more than a month or two, they will rapidly catch up to HBO again at the current rate

I think Slick Richard was a part of the plan from the beginning. The whole PBC plan was entirely different than it turned out to be & got a monkey wrench thru it via the GBP part of the plan going south in a few different ways that had Oscar in rehab, Slick Richard out of the sport &/or Haymon without any ownership or connection with GBP. I think its entirely possible in a different universe lol Oscar is a part of PBC, Haymon owns most of GBP & Slick Richard is promoting GBP fights with Haymon's roster by himself or with some fledgling promoters doing low level shows on Bounce & FS1.

Showtime has vastly improved over the years in my opinion while HBO has slipped some. One thing that I love about Showtime is ShoBox and showcasing prospects. I never could figure out why HBO didn't have an equivalent series. I imagine it would be fairly inexpensive to produce. I remember the ilconceived KO Nation series. Had some good fights but couldn't get past the cheesey production and Ed Lover providing commentary. Maybe a stripped down, less glitzy version of KO Nation would work.
