Yes especially with Andy Lee too. Lee's spectacular KO of the year a few years back over John Jackson on the Cotto/Martinez undercard really endeared him and sealed his Irish support in NYC.

Also his come-from-behind stoppage of Craig McEwan back in 2010 in NYC.

He's put on some great, exciting fights in NYC, and the Irish fans love him.

Throw in legend Katie Taylor, and that alone could have drawn 3-5k extra fans.

Lee vs Heiland would have been the perfect fight too. Whoever wins deserving of a title shot.

But I can see the hesitation for Lee and his team - having been out over a year.

Now he's fighting some dude named Keandre Leatherwood or something like that? Is that the dude they were referring to as GGG's sparring partner?

They have to see if GGG can carry an event New England.

I just don't think people realize how much guys like Floyd, ODH, Tyson, Manny and now Canelo make the community, local businesses and investors when they fight.

Thats not even counting the huge sums of illegal bets, drugs, strip clubs and prostitution revenues either.

Come to think of it, Andy Lee in a higher profile fight would have been the PERFECT co-main event for this card.

Dude has had TWO come-from-behind stoppage wins in NYC - McEwan, and John Jackson. The Jackson KO was the KO of the year for a lot of boxing publications. It was beautiful, and savage.

Him against a puncher like Lemieux, or Curtis Stevens would have been EPIC...

Now I don't even know if his fight is gonna be one of the 3 main undercard fights? Isn't there usually 3 "main" undercard fights before the main event?

No good comes out of this fight not selling well IMO.

I am going to order it and have people over as usual.
          Good idea.

Might be time for an old school fight party.

            Heh, aye..

Doesn't Vegas actually offer promoters money to stage the fight at their hotel/casino? Like MGM, and others will sometimes enter a bidding war to have the fight brought to their arena?

The amount of money they bring their casinos must be staggering.

Usually when people travel out to vegas for a fight, they stay the entire weekend at the hotel, and gamble heavily at the casino.

Think about having 15-20k drunk, crazed boxing fans staying in your hotel/casino for 3 nights.

Can yall stop talking about how expensive the tickets are and drop actual prices so that I know?

Also, watch for Mr Loeffler to come around talking about how the fight is selling great.

And for the guy who said he hopes the fight does 400k, if it does 400k or above I'll make sure to give you 5 quint. Lol

It's not hard to sell tickets when they're the price of a gallon of gas against Lemiuex. When you put in a respectable opponent and the prices go up, it'll most likely not sell out or sell as well as they anticipated

I'm waiting to pull the trigger on a ticket. I hope this is a sign of a drop in price. I got a ticket for Golovkin-Lemieux for $17 the Thursday before the fight.

The tables are $25 or 50 minimum at all times. No $5 tables. And don't underestimate the amount of "dirty" money thats made during a big fight weekend. Big money people come out and blow money at the tables or in the shops.

People are out from 11:00PM until 5 or 6 AM. After the fight is when the hookers/strippers go to work. Thats when the liquor/coke/weed/x etc. starts flowing.

Agreed Lee adds some seats but I didn't know who he was fighting tbh.. I looked up Leatherwood now & don't know much about him but doesn't seem to have any highlight win, so its probably a stay busy fight for Lee..
