Being A side is useless if there's no big competitive opponent. Ask Cotto.
Loeffler: GGG willing to Give Canelo "A" SIDE to Make Fight!

What does he mean "GGG will GIVE Canelo the A side". Canelo IS the A side. Is GGG just realizing this???
Anyhow, as usual, lots of talk from GGG's side. Canelo presented the contract - a career high payday for a 35 year old fighter. Hope the clown backs his talk up and signs the contract.Comment

This is only partly true because Cotto is a B level A-side. He's lost the most important fights in his career and, for the most part, will be the A-side in matchups. However, when you lose those fights lots of opportunities close.
For example, had Cotto beat GGG he could've demanded GGG meet him at 155 or no fight. And Cotto would've had a lot of leverage (Pac, Floyd, Canelo PPV's).Comment

I'm a GGG fan and Canelo should be the A-side of course, his numbers are much bigger.
I disagree that GGG should get a flat fee in a fight that is a potentially huge PPV though, and plenty of fighters and trainers said that's a bull**** offer too. I also don't feel it should have been anywhere below 160 while they both held belts.
Apart from that though, if they're doing purse and ppv splits as they rightly should, then Canelo should get the bigger slice.Comment
