IMO it's time to move on. Ward doesn't want it, he just wants to sit on his controversial win because he's not confident he could replicate it. Kovalev and Stevenson are currently the only top light heavyweights without a fight scheduled, so now seems like the perfect time to finally get it on. If Kov goes and wins that then Ward is irrelevant once more. Then Kov could take on Beterbiev later in the year

That ship sailed already! Main Events pulled out of the purse bid fearing that they would lose (like they just did with Barerra vs. Beterbiev) and the fight would have to be on Showtime. If Kovalev can't fight on Showtime, he can't fight Stevenson, Beterbiev, Eleider Alvarez, Bute, or Marcus Browne. More realistic challenges for Kovalev would be Oleksandr Usyk or Oleksandr Gvozyk, which both fight on HBO.

I hate to say, as I know the strength of will it takes to be a fighter, but at best Ward and his team are behaving like divas, and at worst, like cowards.

If he had a close or controversial fight, immediately rematches his opponent.

Ward has one and contemplates retirement

When Dan Goosen died, something deep inside Andre Ward also died. Despite losing four straight times in court, Andre was still hungry for the legal battles he had grown to love.
Andre had grown addicted to the courtroom. He loved the drama of court, the suspense, and don't forget the pretty court stenographers but with Goosen dead. who could he litigate?
Ward is a God fearing man and the Lord answered his prayers. The contract he signed in 2015 was a God send. All he had to do was survive the first fight and a future of courtroom battles with a woman and a Russian made the future look promising. He could keep those suckers in court for at least a couple of years and after that maybe law school?

It's been 4 months now. Either make the rematch or **** off into ignominy. I'm a Ward fan but ducking this fight will ruin his reputation, and probably for good.

It seems to me that Andre Ward is extremely pleased and mind you very smug that he now currently holds the boxing world by its balls. He knows that all roads lead through him and I bet it feels great pulling that diva card of his.

He realizes that he is in the cat bird seat now and can make HBO and Team Kovalev do whatever he wants in order to secure a rematch. Even if it means making them skip, trip or hop in order to do so.

For a guy who's hardly a draw he sure is a damn diva.

I'm sure RNS regrets signing this dude. He's made them no money and as a matter of fact has LOST them money.
