GGG is the only wbc/wba/ibf champion in the sport. he's dominating his division more than any other fighter in boxing. he's undefeated. he's winning every fight by knockout.

he's the text book definition of the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

You're supposed to either announce it or retire, or I imagine have more than one fight away from the division.

For example, Brook fought 2 weight classes above 147 and lost, but still kept his #1 spot at WW. Canelo has had one fight away from MW (Khan was at 155lbs - MW), so was Cotto and Kirkland.

What's weirder to me is how he stayed ranked at 154 even though he wasn't fighting there for a couple of years. He now comes back to get a title at 154, and his next fight is at super middleweight, that will make 2 fights in a row away from MW.

But because of his name and relationship with WBC, it's very possible that all Oscar has to do to keep Canelo's Ring ranking at 160 is announce they will fight GGG in September, which I think WBC already acknowledged DLH saying that.

In short there's some bending of the rules and favoritism going on because of the money Canelo brings. But these rules are always bended for top money makers, Canelo is not the first.

I get the that you are a fan, but GGG got WBA/WBC outside the ring and the IBF was won against Lemieux that was rank 7 or 8, when he fought for the title. That makes him the weakest unified champion ever, IMO.

I won't denied that GGG is good, but cant tell me that he deserves a top 10 spot and Canelo don't.

Well if Mikey stays at 135 he will do the same as GGG because that's a weak division. He has Easter there as a real challenge and that's it. If Mikey wants to the GGG route, he can collect all the titles from those weaklings Linares and Flanagan, call up Lomachenko and Davis from 130, wait for LSC to move up from 126 and basically make a career out of the weak 135 and the strong guys at 126-130. Exactly what GGG is doing. I wish Mikey moves up to challenge himself at 140, i'm a Mikey supporter but I don't wanna see him pull what GGG is doing. Both Crawford and Postol have more danger and skill in one pinky than the whole 135 division.

When you pretty much make up your own weight division to give yourself an advantage, don't expect everyone to heap praises on you.

I don't have much of a problem w/ any publication or fan omitting Canelo from their lists. He decides upon a weight he makes and either has people move up for a disadvantage or attempt to move down to it for one. He could have worked something out with JR. and instead Diva'd up and brought in that half pound. What he's doing to the sport isn't p4p top 10 material. I know every fighter is picky at the negotiating table, but this is on some other level shit. His resume isn't even bad at all, but damn... 155? 164.5?? For Khan, Lara, Angulo, Chavez Jr and I'm sure I'm missing a couple more names.

It's funny when discussing Resumes the Cotto win is downplayed implying he was too old. Yet Kovalev's best win, was against a 50 year old senior citizen.

Hell even if you throw out resumes Canelo is easily a top 10 fighter in terms of skills and overall offensive arsenal.

No, I am not a fan, let alone a GGG fan. I will be rooting for Danny Jacobs on March 18. But that doesn't change the fact that GGG is dominating his division more than any other fighter in boxing right now.

If he's such a weak champion, why isn't everyone lining up to fight him? Why did Canelo avoid him like the plague? Why did Cotto avoid him like the plague? Your position doesn't make any sense.

If we're ranking fighters based on what they're accomplishing at their weight, nobody is accomplishing more than GGG. Canelo blatantly ducked him and ran out of the division to avoid him. Everyone knows GGG would be the betting favorite over Canelo. There's no reason to rank Canelo above him.
