People saying it's not resume, it's how dominant you are against the bums you fight. Okay then, what about Kirkland, Angulo, Smith, Khan? All TKO stoppages where Canelo destroyed his opposition. These guys are all considered lesser opponents like the guys that the top 10 P4P fight and KO. So now what? There's always something.

    He has a good resume.

Canelo detractor's Answer: Oh but he struggled against the future HOF'ers he fought, Lara, and Trout, to be P4P you have to destroy all competition.

Good fighters struggle against eachother - Kovalev-Ward, Kovalev-Chilemba, Gonzalez-Cuadras, should we remove those 3 from the P4P list? Mikey was knocked down against the very average Roman Martinez, when was the last time Canelo got knocked down by anyone period?

Answer: They beat their lesser opponents with ease though.

Canelo destroys his lesser opponent with ease too - Khan, Angulo, Smith, Kirkland, all stopped.

Answer: Canelo picks on smaller fighters, we don't tolerate that.

Golovkin picked on Brook too, a WW, should he be removed from the P4P list?

Answer: He desroyed his lesser opponents with ease.

    So did Canelo.

Detractors Answer: P4P, eye test, 1 on 1, same size, resumes don't count....**** it we just don't like Mexican gingers.

And he is lineal/Ring champ at 160, Ring champ at 154.

      Hopkins became lineal in 2001

Taylor beat him 2005, became lineal

Pavlik beat Taylor 2007, became new lineal champ

Martinez beat Pavlik 2010, new lineal champ

Cotto beat Martinez 2014, new lineal champ

Canelo beat Cotto 2015, current lineal champ

Although, many, including me, felt Murray beat Martinez and was the actual lineal champ (or shoud've been), he was then beaten by GGG, making GGG the unofficial lineal 160 champ if you only follow your scorecards and not the official scorecards. That is of course if boxing had fair judging, GGG would be the rightful Ring/Lineal champ, not Cotto or Canelo.

You're right, Canelo definitely has the skills. Trout and Lara are light punching and are still smaller than him. They can't hurt him. Kirkland and Angulo are garbage, not sure why people keep bringing them up. Kirkland was KOd by Ishida who had 50 losses, and Angulo lost to crappy opposition before their fight.

When Canelo beats a legitimate fighter his own weight (MW), he's going on my P4P list.

Canelo vs Trout were 171lbs vs 172lbs on fight night. Hardly smaller.

I would put him somewhere around #8-10.

Too few top fights and the fights he has been in i.e. Mayweather and Lara, a lot was left to be desired.

How can he be current lineal champ when he left the division?

You know what i've noticed though, lately P4P seems to be reserved for unproven fighters, or fighters with limited resumes. When it comes to P4P lists, fighters who fight the best seem to get punished and dropped for looking "average" - against other very good fighters. But fighters who fight constant gimme fights and TKO them seem to get rewarded. There are maybe 3 fighters there who actually fought top notch competition. But the rest of the 7 seem to be comprised by the dreaded "eye test" criteria.

It's going to be amusing to see these same fighters being rewarded when they get dropped after fighting actual, undeniably good competition and look average and then time to make room for Julio Martinez of Strawweight, 23(23)-0, Takashi Makahashi of Bantamweight 4(4)-0, and lastly the Russian Beast - Artur Egorov 12(6)-0. That's right, I know these outstanding fighters and you don't, they're top 10 P4P, I also know the names of the great fighters they have beaten. I'm a much better boxing fan than you, with your little mainstream fighters like Canelo. YDKSAB.

(All 3 names were made up)

Cyber Boxing still has him as Lineal. He's still in the division according to TBRB and Ring. In both TBRB and Ring he's the champion of the division.

Seems odd to me that he's the champ when he's left the division. but hey ho.

what's the logic of having GGG number 6 without fighting any top level competition and leaving Canelo out? I don't get it.

and since the ring title is literally owned by his promoter, the "accomplishment" is meaningless.
