I think a 7 pound difference between ALL weight divisions makes sense, I find it ****** that at the light weight divisions that u can move up a division by eating a good sized meal, I also hate that the a light heavyweight should move up 25 lbs if they can't make weight anymore.

It would be fairer if the difference between divisions was determined by % of body mass, let's say 7%, so bantamweight would be 107% of flyweight and featherweight 107% of bantamweight, etc. That would make it 112 lbs for fly, 120 lbs for bantam and 128.5 lbs for feather, by the way. It would also make the middle and light heavy divisions quite a bit heavier to compensate for ironing out that huge 25 lbs leap from light heavy to cruiser in the current system

This is a most sensible post. What I don't like about current setup are irregularities in how division are split. I.e there is less difference between junior middle and middle than between welter and junior middle. Likewise there is less difference between super middle and lightheavy than between middle and supermiddle. It shall be the other way around. The split shall be at 153 rather than 154 and at 167 rather than 168. Also the 25 pound from LHV to cruiser limit is too drastic. We shall return to 190 limit and create another division (1st heavy) around 215-220.

Also all the weight below 126 are frankly have little relevance. And there are 6 divisions there - it is too much.

What a ****** Idea, the sport expands globally with more divisions : less titles at stake means less reason to compete in 'PRIZE-FIGHTING'. Look at China and the situation with Zoo-chains....didnt like 100 million tune-in just to see his 'midget' ass fight?

With fewer divisions and just one champion per division, I imagine continental, national and regional titles would become much more prestigious again. A continental title in that context would actually be harder to win and therefore more prestigious than an alphabet world title in the current set-up

Of course, if there were just one sanctioning body in control of virtually the entire sport, we'd need some serious checks and balances to keep them honest

That's already possible under certain circumstances. I may be wrong but I think I read that Stieglitz's next fight, which is for the EBU title, will be PPV in Germany

You Americans are just spoilt from being at the top of the sport for so long. Here in the UK there's still a lot of love for our national titles

Its a hard sell anywhere in the world but yeah I can see the euros buying it -- I mean look at Haye vs. Bellend and Eubank jr vs. that Australian but I don't see it having much promise in other continents and you got to consider what this is all really about for the fighters PRIZEFIGHTING if you cant make a decent living ( like Roy Jones fighting that bum this weekend. ) why even risk serious injury? Now the guys I just used as example have a massive fanbase to be able to pull this off so its very unlikely for the average prizefighter to achieve this based on some second rate system that have been suggested in this thread -- but money talks.

Lastly when there were only eight divisions in Boxing I don't even think the contenders got the attention they really deserved ; now with a legit title you can make a living granted it hurts the sport a bit when they refuse to unify but the networks are also able to put on more championship bouts on tv provided that something ( a prize ) is at stake such as a eliminator -- I dare to say a eliminator for a world title would have more weight than a regional title!
