Golovkin's power is for real! there is no doubt about that! But boxing is not just about punching power, and physical toughness! Although Golovkin has achieved allot in his career, we don't really know whether he can really box as yet!

What i mean by that statement is? he has never really be tested by "Slickness".....he is in the same situation now that Kelly Pavlik was in before he fought Bernard Hopkins! Kelly Pavlik was ruining guys careers, with his power and semi-decent basic technical skills (Just like Golovkin!) but when he had to face 43 year old man in Bernard Hopkins? he could not handle the slickness! I don't really think Danny Jacobs has much "Slickness" you see "Slickness" is a skill that can defy the laws of physics! that is why Fighters like Roy Jones Junior, Floyd Mayweather and Bernard Hopkins where able to move through the weight classes! (That is what slickness can do!)...

Danny Jacobs may have some of that "Slickness" in him just laying dormant! and that "Slickness" may manifest when he faces Golovkin! (And people need to take this factor into consideration!)....

All the great fighters throughout history, at some point in their careers need to prove! whether they can really box! you see fighting and boxing are two totally different things! Golovkin has not proved that he can box (In my opinion!) he has proved that he can fight, he has proved that he can take a punch! but he has not proved whether he can really box, because he has not faced in my opinion a master of the sweet science!

But none of this is his fault because, the middle weight divisions seems to be devoid of "Slick fighters" Bernard Hopkins was one of the last of his kind!

I really try to like GGG and watch his fights but meh, he is a great one ofc but there have been/are fighters even greater than him out there. His having not 1 strong win is the issue.

          clever troll!

Golovkin is a Olympic silver medalist (got robbed in the gold medal match), that accomplishment alone shows he knows how to box.

the fact you even compared Pavlik to Golovkin, invalidates the point you were trying to make beyond trollin

This is correct, IMO. Right now I have GGG at #4 p4p. But I recognize that while he has beat alot of solid MW contenders -- he hasnt beaten anyone elite.

So, yes, the p4p ranking is based a bit on how I believe he would do fighting a fellow elite fighter. If he loses to Jacobs (who isnt quite elite, but is very good), then I was wrong, and the p4p was premature.

BUt he would still be a dominant MW titleholder. He still beat all those solid MW contenders. But he wouldnt be p4p.

And he wouldnt be THE MW CHAMP -- I have this fight as deciding the vacant MW championship
your idea of solid and mine are wayyyyyyyyy different

All his 20+ defences wouldnt mean a damn thing, its not how many you beat its about when you step up do you actually deliver.

I feel unlike a lot of fighters who lose if GGG loses now, it will really really stain his career and wouldnt even be considered for the HOF.

He could be known as the guy who fooled the public for as long as he possibly could

Only to unfair and biased idiots.

I've said it before and I will keep reminding people:

                1. A loss doesn't erase what happened previously.

                2. A win is judged on the facts/context at the time the fight takes place. What happens afterwards doesn't affect the quality of the win.

Beat everyone he's been put up against.

                    Anything wrong with that?

It's not like he's retiring tomorrow that you can call him out on chit he hasn't done yet.

Anthony Joshua is the Olympic Gold Medalist, and people are questioning whether he can really box (That is why his next fight up against Wladimir Kiltschko is his biggest test!) in the professional boxing ranks, Golovkin has not come up against a fighter, who can negate his power and first mode of attack! Fighters like Andre Ward would probably achieve this! (And its in these situations where great boxers have the slickness and skills to adapt!)...

Its these type of fights that expose you as a fighter, and really prove your boxing skills! thus-far Golovkin has not been forced to adapt his game in any of his fights, so we don't really know whether he can box! certain aspects of his game like (Head movement and Defense) seem to be non-existent because? he has not been forced to invest in them heavily!

People would not be making these sort of threads, if Golovkin had proven himself against a multitude of fighting styles! (Or if boxing analysts had witness him fight his way out of various situations that have test different aspects of his game)....

These type of thread where not made about Oscar De La Hoya, Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather or Roy Jones Junior for example)...
