Like him or not, Floyd was a genius in the ring. His claim that "I am boxing" has been proven over and over again.

I think he's given proper credit. Everyone sees him as one of the top level ATGs. His career will see a boost over time like anyone else's after retirement, but I doubt he vaults into the top 10. The top 10 of boxing ATGs is ****ing stacked and greater fighters than Mayweather have trouble cracking it.

There is no serious argument for Mayweather as top 5 all time, and definitely not #1. As great as his career was, it doesn't touch the fighters on that level.

Floyd can be top 20. But to get him their Ive had to turn a blind eye to many of the things that detract him. Like cherry picking, no risk taking Ie Fighting abroad etc etc and fighting people past their primes who weren't even that great in first place and cw with bloating or draining fighters, something he wasn't prepared to do himself. 95% of time tried to get things in his favour.

Floyds not a top 5 ATG and there's just no argument at all for him being TBE. He's no where near top 5 on resume. He fought more champions because he competed in an era of multiple titles and paper champions. This is the era where B class fighters like Berto can be a world champion and the likes of Broner and Burns can be multiple weight world champions lol.
Floyd never beat a great fighter in their prime. The true top tier ATG's have multiple wins over hall of fame fighters some of which are ATG's. Harry Greb has like 13 wins over hall inductees. Henry Armstrong has about 9 or 10. Robinson has about 10 hall guys on his resume as well. Even greats who rank just inside the top 25 all time like Barney Ross, Jimmy McLarnin and Tony Canzeroni have multiple hall of famers on their resumes. I think Jimmy McLarnin beat 11 hall of fame boxers. Going on wins alone Floyd doesn't belong in the top 25 but when you factor in his ability and longevity then he has a case for top 25 of all time, but top 5? No ****ing way.

Top 10 is impossible to crack at this point mostly due to how the industry has changed. #1 draw in boxing history. Nearly universally regarded as greatest of his era by writers and historians. Undefeated. Schooled his rival in the most lucrative fight in combat sports history.

It's not about better, it's about greater. For all Mayweather did his career cannot touch the guys in the top 10. For example Mayweather's legacy cannot touch Sugar Ray Leonard's, and Leonard struggles to hit many top 10 ATG lists.

If we're talking whether Mayweather could actually beat these fighters, than yeah, you're not going to find many fighters better than Mayweather. That's not how ATG lists are compiled though.

Basically. Mayweather had an outstanding career but even if you give him wins over the fighters he is accused of ducking, he wouldn't crack the top 10. That's just about impossible anymore. Too few fights, too little talent. No one can pick up multiple wins over ATGs anymore because there are no longer multiple ATGs to beat.
