Absolutely. The marquis fights he had totally outshines the fluff in his resume. That's why he's a legend. The total number of wins is much less of a contribution to his standing as an ATG.

Not if he would've fought Camacho in the 80s in his prime and sweet pea got the decision he deserved.

JCC is a legend but no man is unbeatable and he always struggled with speed, movement coupled with durability.

He is a bit overrated all time. He beat quality fighters but he could've lost to Laporte, Taylor, even lockridge.

He was never P4P the best like they tried to make him out to be. Sweet pea was the best of that era and in the mid to late 80s, Camacho would've gave him fits.

IMO I rate Ricardo Lopez, Manuel Ortiz, ruben olivarez should be higher on all time greatest Mexican fighters list and JMM, Morales and Barrera not too far behind. JMM arguably should be higher considering he won titles @ 126 and beat PAC who is considered greater than JCC

He was abit past it when he fought Whitaker I thought. Camacho in his prime vs Chavez would've been something. People forget how good pre Rosario Hector was. There was something about the Chavez who fought Rosario thought, I think he could've beaten anyone that night.Flawless.

? Are you serious, how come you say he lost to Meldrick Taylor? When you get kd'd you in 10 secs need to get up, put your knuckles up, and answer the referee, if you don't it is a KO. It doesn't matter how much left to the end, it is a KO. The referee has to call it a KO, he has no choice bcz it's plain and simple, the most basic rule in boxing even the babies know. The ref could rob Chavez by letting the fight go and no one w'd critisize him but he knew he'd be critisized and decided to do the right thing.

Sweet pea wasn't in his prime either IMO he simply is a better fighter and would've won either way

Even post Rosario, Camacho before the 90s was arguably top 5 p4p n a more complete fighter than his early 80s buzzsaw style

Agreed JCC was an animal vs Rosario he wasn't gonna be denied

Serious Question, why do black people hate Chavez sr so much? it always a wonderment of mines.

Because Chavez beat up a lot slick bruvvas, that's why.

And he got beat by the slickest bruvva, Whitaker and still escaped with a draw.

Even if you took out all the cab drivers and club fighters, Chavez would still have a great record against top level opposition, he just wouldn't be close to having 100 wins.

Chavez just loved fighting in front of the live Mexican crowd, even if they were just gimme fights against no hopers to stay active in between his big fights. He was a throwback fighter to the old days.
