he does have power, so yeah i can see him hurting GGG if he lands flush, will he do it? that's the question. also i doubt GGG is overlooking him, his people can say what the want but GGG isn't overlooking jacobs

How long can Golovkin walk through punches? That bill will be coming due. Personally I think Golovkin was showing wear and tear in the Brook fight. Too many shots.jacobs will need to land multiple shots flush on ggg's chin to do anything like its been said here a thousand times we've seen him take shots from hard punchers like stevens and lemieux and it didn't even phase him 1 or 2 punches wont do it. I wonder how will danny react if ggg walks through his his best punches.
He better work behind his jab and not just eat uppercuts.Comment

I agree. he'll use his jab to set up jacobs like he did against lemieux.Comment

Jacobs can box on the move throw 2 punches combos step over he would have to stay off the ropes stay out the corners keep the fight near the middle of the ring tough task he has the tools do itHe might not want to be stood in range long enough to land combinations though. If he stays in the pocket a split second too long and takes a shot back, would anybody be that confident that Jacobs can stand up to the power?
I guess that's the problem fighting GGG though. If you try to box and move, he's so good at cutting the ring off to the point you've found yourself on the ropes or in a corner, but then stand and box with with him too much and you might end up being caught too often and being set up with his powerful jab. I suppose you just have to do your best to mix it up. Too many of his opponents fight scared too, which is a problem because you can't just invite his pressure.
That said, anybody can be hurt and Jacobs has a lot of power, so who knows. To win a decision though, i just think it's going to take a hell of a game plan to beat Golovkin, and requires it carried out to perfection too.Comment

I remember the Macklin fight. Macklin was all motivated and brave... for about 1 minute. Then he realized he's in with something different.
All GGG opponents go through this awakening process in the first round. I imagine it's a bit like being hit on the head with a hammer. Not quite what they were expecting.
Talk about not getting stopped all you want, once you have a hammer hitting your head, things are going to change slightly...
Good luck to Jacobs, hope he makes it a fight.Comment

Golovkin will do body work for a few rounds and then blast Jacobs out.
When he knows he can be hurt, he'll box.
Brook couldn't crack an egg, so that's why Golovkin completely bum-rushed him. Also, he wouldn't have been able to outbox Brook.Comment

That's been pretty consistent. But look at the Monroe fight. He gets floored in the second round, but gets inside Golovkin in the middle rounds and makes things almost interesting.I remember the Macklin fight. Or does he? There are two competing narratives here, with Golovkin. As always. Does Golovkin taste Monroe's shots and decide he ain't got nothing, let's make big drama show? Or does Monroe authentically find an Achilles heel, but he just doesn't have the power to bring it home?
Is Golovkin toying with people, or does his defense really depend on eating shots? I'm not sure.Comment

I prefer to engage with people who understand what the word "great" means, in boxing terms
a good fighter, has good wins
a very good fighter, has very good wins
and a great fighter, has great wins
which of Golovkin's wins were " great " ?
what great fighters did he beat ?
you don't get anymore real than me, or the question above?
and no point in labeling me a hater, because I only corrected your inaccurate commentComment

Basically agree. There's a lot of "inflation" in our language, like grade inflation, or vanity waist sizes.I prefer to engage with people who understand what the word "great" means, in boxing terms

You can't be "great" unless you do great things. Beat great opponents. Why is Ali "the greatest?" He lost a lot of fights, including ones the judges awarded to him. He's great because he beat seriously, seriously great competition, Olympic gold medalists, hall of fame bad, bad men like Liston, Foreman, Frazier.
Golovkin can't be great until he beats the kind of fighter that many people feel might actually win. I'm not blaming him, but there it is.Comment
