First off, Golovkin is a great fighter. If you can't recognize that, I would argue you don't know much about boxing craft. Secondly, where in my post did I say Jacobs doesn't have a shot? I didn't. What I said is that if he just assuming GGG is looking past him, and therefore won't be at the top of his game, then he is making a mistake. This week he has also questioned Golovkin's chin, his resume (which is significantly better than Jacob's) and so on. To me, when I see guys talking like that it makes me feel as if they are trying to convince themselves they can win. If you notice, the only thing Golovkin has said about Jacobs is that he is a great fighter, and this is boxing, anything can happen.

He might not want to be stood in range long enough to land combinations though. If he stays in the pocket a split second too long and takes a shot back, would anybody be that confident that Jacobs can stand up to the power?
I guess that's the problem fighting GGG though. If you try to box and move, he's so good at cutting the ring off to the point you've found yourself on the ropes or in a corner, but then stand and box with with him too much and you might end up being caught too often and being set up with his powerful jab. I suppose you just have to do your best to mix it up. Too many of his opponents fight scared too, which is a problem because you can't just invite his pressure.
That said, anybody can be hurt and Jacobs has a lot of power, so who knows. To win a decision though, i just think it's going to take a hell of a game plan to beat Golovkin, and requires it carried out to perfection too.Last edited by deathofaclown; 02-14-2017, 06:00 PM.Comment

After seeing so many boxers robbed by judges, I think GGG should have put a clause in the contract "If the decision is contested, either party can request an independent commission of 5 judges to review the tapes and make a decision".

Exactly. Golovkin waits until fight night to do his talking. I give Jacobs a lot of credit for getting in there with him but he really needs to stop the posturing. Don't worry Danny. We're already interested in the fight. We don't need you marketing it for us

that is my pick
not sure how you could deduce what you said from my post ?
Danny Jacobs is a very good fighter, and Gennady Golovkin is an outstanding fighter..... he could even be special
..... we will not know that based on the outcome of the Jacobs fight, but if Gennady beats him then Jacobs will likely be recorded as a very good win
people throw that word great around like it's the new " cool "
but in boxing terms, the word great is reserved for actual greatness
fighters use that term far too often, they should know betterComment

I think they need to prepare counters for Golovkin's somewhat predictable attacks, and work on timing

How to use what makes Trip great? Jimmy Jacobs is just saying what most fighters who don't talk a lot of trash say when they want to communicate to the public that they aren't scared but they don't want to give the other fighter bulletin board material.First off, Golovkin is a great fighter. jacobs will need to land multiple shots flush on ggg's chin to do anything like its been said here a thousand times we've seen him take shots from hard punchers like stevens and lemieux and it didn't even phase him 1 or 2 punches wont do it. I wonder how will danny react if ggg walks through his best punches.Comment
