Comments Thread For: Hearn: In Beating Errol Spence, Brook Stands Out as Best at 147

The date for Kell Brook's mandatory defense of the IBF welterweight title may shift by a week to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane ground on May 27. A deal was reached on Monday for Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) to make a mandatory defense of his title against undefeated Olympian Errol Spence (21-0, 18 KOs).

If Garcia wins, he'd have a similar claim

      There's also Pacman

Best thing for boxing will be if the winner of this fight fights the winner if Garcia vs Thurman. Then throw Crawford into the mix and you have a nice set up to create future stars.

It's still a three way tie between Garcia/Thurman, Brook/Spence and Pacquiao. If Brook wins, I reckon unification with Pacquiao is possible in the near future, and if Spence wins then he'll certainly face the winner of the Garcia-Thurman fight before long, so whoever won that second unification bout would then become the de facto #1 while the other guy would be the odd man out

So beating Spence who's only notable win is against Algieri will cement Brook as the best of the 147 division, ok, makes alot of sense, we'll just pretend that Bradley,Garcia,Pacquiao,Porter, Thurman , Khan and Vargas doesn't exist.

I wouldn't say Thurman is more proven. His best win is Brooks best win no?

No he wont. Thats the issue, if he soundly beats Spence, no one is going to say Brook is the next top dog at 147, everyone simply gonna say Spence was never tested and when he went against a world champ he got beat.

These guys have no shame. Two weeks ago it was, nobody knows this Spencer kid. We're looking for the big fights. Suddenly a win against Spence makes you king of the hill at welterweight
