I hadn't seen Warren before but he didn't look ready for world level competition to me. Maybe down the road, but last night he looked at best what you'd call 'international level'.

The confidence seemed to have been beaten out of him in that second round. Thereafter he continuously let Zhakiyanov get off first while sort of aimlessly shuffling around the ring in reverse.

He really struggled to time potshots which is a real problem with his style and limited power. Kind of inexcusable on the night given the fact that the Kazakh regularly squared up and led with power shots. Zhakiyanov did a great job of scoring with those lead right hands, but the frequency with which he did so would make you ask question of Warren's defence.

Not sure how good Zhakiyanov is but I did really like the way he shifted when he had had Warren backing up towards the ropes. Hard to do at the top level but is fun to watch all the same.

It's possible to get knocked down in one round then come back to win the fight on the official scorecards.

We have two recent examples of that with Ward and now Zhakiyanov. That's all I'm saying.

Marquez also did something similar in one of his fights with manny. It takes a real fighting spirit to overcome an early KD and outwork your opponent. Right decision, proper inside boxing.

Scored the fight alot closer though and that judge who had it for Warren should be investigated.

That was like a miniature version of Maidana-Broner. Haha. Very entertaining. Zhanat Zhakiyanov should be proud of his performance. He really brought the fight and took over after a rocky start. Before the first bell sounded, you could see who was focused and serious and who definitely wasn't. A rematch would be a lot of fun. Either way, I'd like to see more of Zhanat Zhakiyanov.

Think what you want but these scores of 10-2 and 9-3 are ridiculous and these judges ( John Stewart 111-115, Brian Kennedy 110-116 ) should be suspended but because Warren is not well known it has not be given the appropriate attention.
