  • Comments Thread For: Brook's Promoter: We Made Offers To Errol Spence - No Response!

New York - IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KO's) has been idle from the ring since he was stopped in five rounds by middleweight Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33 KO's) last September at the O2 Arena in London. To take that fight, Brook moved up two weight divisions. But now, Brook has a mandatory defense looming with Errol Spence Jr.

Where are the ' Brooks ducking' lot then?

Brook aint no coward him vs Spence at 147 is the true fight between the most talented at 147 not Garcia vs Thurman

Haymon Associated promoters have been been using this "purse bid" strategy very effectively to get their fighters bigger purses.

They let the champion's team/network acquire a date and a proposed site then use the threat of winning the purse bid, and thus losing the date and site, to get their fighter a higher percentage then they are entitled to.

You so call boxing fans are crazy if you think Spence will walk the Brook. I notice a lot of people just want to see certain fighters loose for crazy reasons. Good fight but Hearns shouldn't be surprise there's no response. It's clearly going to a purse bid.

This is very strange. Spence called out Brook multiple times before and after the Algieri fight. Even his promoter Dibella chimed in and said things like:

Spence was all over the social media after he beat Bundu giving his take on every fight. He's gone quiet after the GGG/Brook fight.

The plot thickens! First comes the public posturing, then comes finger pointing and the blame game. If this all leads to an actual fight is anybody's guess.

Spence best pack his bags because he`s gonna have to travel. I don`t think he really wants it. All an act.

These comments are laughable! so now Spence is going to walk away from his title opportunity? we dont even know the figures Hearns has offered! maybe the purse-bid may generate equal if not more to what Hearns is offering. In conclusion its all speculation and a moral boost for the five Kell Brook stans on this board.

You're assuming that a purse bid is bad for team Spence. The purse isn't a huge issue here b/c Spence is going to get less money anyway. I can see a situation where they actually want to go to the bid and CBS/Showtime may want to put on the fight in prim time is the US, like the Thurman Garcia fight.

Remember the Stevenson/Kovalev fight went to a purse bid that was won by the Stevenson team. (We know what after the bid)

Haymon has a history of letting his fighters go to a purse bid. (They almost all of these battles)
