Promoter Lou DiBella is backing his Errol Spence Jr to inflict another knockout on Kell Brook’s record after Gennady Golovkin has retained his Middleweight World Titles.
Victory for DiBella’s man this Sunday against Leonard Bundu would install him as mandatory challenger for the IBF World Welterweight Title.
“The winner will be mandatory for the title presently held by Kell Brook, I don’t know what he’s going to do after he gets knocked out - but if he stays around to fight Spence, I think he may get knocked out again!” stated promoter DiBella.
Brook currently holds the title and the charismatic promoter is unsure of what will happen regarding the title’s status after Brook has fought Golovkin.
“For all the talk, he’s going to find as much trouble in his own weight class than going up. If it doesn’t happen, I’m sure there will be a significant fight for the IBF World Title,” continued DiBella.
Speaking at a pre-fight press conference, Spence is ready to shine in a competitive fight.
“It’s been a long training camp but I’m in great shape. Bundu is a very good fighter, technically sound. I’m looking forward to a good fight,” revealed the 2012 Olympian.
Like Spence, Bundu boasts Olympic experience representing Italy at the 2000 Sydney games.
In his first fight Bundu claimed victory over former IBF World Middleweight Champion Daniel Geale before crashing out to Daniyar Munaytbasov from Kazakhstan in the second stage.
Now with just one loss to Keith Thurman in his pro career, Bundu believes it could be his last chance saloon.
“This might be my last chance for a shot at the World Title. The better the opposition, the better I act. I’m coming here with a winning mentality. Get ready for the upset!”
